So, my computer was acting really strange, and I decided I should just go ahead and buy a fresh copy of Windows 7.

So after I purchased it, I wanted to download it online and get a fresh install, once I hit download 32 bit version and said to save it here and download it the only thing that I can tell something is downloading is on the browser page where the "download" button is now replaced with 2 spinning arrows... but thats it, no % done or ETA. Is there a way I can check to see if this is downloading and can I even do a fresh install via online downloading?

It's been a long time since I've downloaded Windows 7. If I remember correctly they by default try to get you to install a download manager to help with the download. You may be seeing this because UAC is asking if you want to allow the install. Sometimes UAC pops up in the background unnoticed. Or if you are using IE it may be asking if you want to install an activex component. I would investigate these first. Good luck.

Welcome tp Windows Seven Forums.

Check the bottom of your screen where there should be a UAC bar asking whether you want to download or save.

Choose the Save As option and where you want to save it and the download should proceed apace.

You'll also need to check your e-mails for the product key that Microsoft will send you - don't lose it and write it down straightaway.

If you already have WIn7 or it came with your machine then you own it for life and don't have to buy another copy to reinstall it. Just use the Product Key on the COA sticker attached to machine or is on the packaging or email that accompanied the retail OS purchase.

You can save this newly purchased license to use on another machine and use just its installer to clean reinstall with the existing Product Key on COA sticker.

You want to download the installer to your computer, burn the ISO file to DVD or write to 4gb flash stick using this tool: Windows 7 USB-DVD Download Tool

Then follow these steps (which apply) to get a perfect reinstall: Reinstalling Windows 7
