Hi all,

recently both my Firefox browser and outlook 10 stopped working, the message for the browser was 'cannot connect to the server' outlook reported that the send and receive tasks could not be completed. I next tried using IE11 with outlook, IE with Thunderbird and Firefox with Thunderbird, all without any luck.

I checked with my ISP and they see no problem. I can also use Skye with no problems. I have tried re-installing outlook and installed Thunderbird downloaded from another machine with no change and reset the system to a restore point prior to the problem starting still no joy!

My PC is a HP Pavilion model p7 1010a running Windows 7 professional 64 bit.

Any help would be appreciated.

ICIT2LOL,

thanks for responding. I have a problem with your first suggestion as I can't access the internet with my HP PC and it appears that HP require direct access to the machine.

In the meantime I'll download the anti-malware programs you suggest on another machine and install and run them one at a time and see if there is any remedy there, I'll also view the suggested tutorials.
