I have to use both Firefox & IE in order to do everything I want to do on my computer. Some stuff works in FF, but not IE and the other way around as well.

I've been cruising in FF until I've needed to save something or wanted add to my favorites folders. Then it's easier for me to use IE. I have designated FF as my default browser since I use it more. IE asks me every time I use it if I want to make it my default browser. I have respectfully declined.

Now if I'm using IE, I'm not allowed to copy a URL, and FF has become a total pain to use. It won't load a page, for example. It's like IE is trying to make me quit FF. And yes. I've already been in therapy. I am just wondering what's going on.

Why make it easy for Google?

Swap to a FF variant like Pale Moon, Waterfox or Cyberfox.
They all have 64 bit versions too.

'I'm not familiar with the other "foxes", and would be interested in giving one a go.

It still seems to me that it shouldn't take two browsers to equal what one should be doing...

As far as anyone know, then, there is no sabotage going on?

I'd agree with Lehnerus2000's advice. Personally I ditched Firefox two years ago and use Cyberfox instead.

Conspiracies? No. Privacy issues maybe.

Why stick to one browser anyway? I use at least six maybe more!

Pale Moon

I still use Firefox in Linux Mint 17.1 (I think that the Linux version is 64 bit).

I've been using Pale Moon (64 bit) in Windows 7 for ~18 months.
It is supposed to be faster than FF.
I can't say that I noticed any major difference when I swapped over from FF.

Here is my Add-on Manager tab:

The greyed out add-ons either don't work or have been disabled by me for other reasons.
Personal Menu has been modified by me (to bypass the FF 4+ GUI issues) hence the weird version number.

It isn't any more complicated than any other browser (in my opinion).

You can run Firefox and Pale Moon on the same PC.

You can export your FF Bookmarks as an HTML file (using the Firefox Bookmark Manager).
You can load them using the Pale Moon Bookmark Manager.

If you want to transfer more items other than just Bookmarks, have a look at this article (also read the comments):

You can also manually transfer your entire profile from Firefox to Pale Moon (by copying the appropriate files)
Make sure you save a backup of your FF profile (if you decide to try this method).

Since Pale Mooon and Firefox are basically the same the tutorial should work.
Obviously you would need to replace references to firefox.exe with palemoon.exe as appropriate.

I have not checked that the tutorial still works with Firefox 36.

Thanks, lehnerus2000. I'll check it out. I'm so done with error 115! It does seem like one should be able to do all functions with a single browser, though. I guess it's just perpetual glitchmania.

Corrupted Profile?

It is possible that your FF profile has become corrupted.

Try creating a new profile (follow the instructions in the tutorial I mentioned in my previous post).
If the new profile works correctly, you can copy the important profile files to your new profile.

Pale Moon is based on the same engine, but a different fork if you will. They didn't make the huge Australis interface change, so it looks more like the old FF. It has some "under the hood" changes to make it faster, and likely more stable (although if you add a thousand extensions, you are asking for instability).

I am not a FF "power user" as I use the older Opera 99% of the time, so I can't speak to individual little niggles a FF user may notice. But when FF started changing so radically, I dumped it for Pale Moon as my secondary browser. It should work the way a FF user would expect, but without all the drawbacks of the latest FF versions.

This is so humiliating. I cannot FIND the profile manager. I read an online article that instructs me to enter "profilemanager.exe," but when I put that in the search box over the MS globe, I get no matches.
Then I typed "run," and stuck it in that search box, and got the clang with the red X window saying that Windows couldn't find it.

It's possible the idiots at Mozilla have removed it in the Windows version of FF.
I can still access multiple profiles in Linux Mint 17.1 (which has Firefox 36).

You should be able to type the following into the Start Menu search box or the Run box:

firefox.exe -P

Well, what I finally did in the wee hours last night was to delete all of my add-ons in FF and forge on with the download of Pale Moon. All went without a hitch, but Pale Moon is, well, pale. I have poor vision, so I need to figure out how to increase the font size and find the "bold" type. It also doesn't stretch across my widescreen. There must be an "appearance" function that comes with it?

There must be something weird about your PC.

Pale Moon behaves the same as any other program.

To make it fullscreen:

• Click the Maximise button
• Use the "Windows Logo + Up Arrow" keyboard shortcut
• Double click the Title bar

The font size is in Options, which is basically identical to Firefox (Options > Options > Content tab).
You can also use "Ctrl key + Scroll wheel" to zoom in and out.

I cannot get rid of that bottom Google search bar. I have a lot of stuff up there, and I don't need to see 3 Googles. I've tried left-clicking in the blank space beside it, but nothing seems nothing I uncheck on the drop-down makes it go away.

I got one add-on that makes the type larger, but it doesn't stay larger; it reverts back to microscopic when I leave and come back. I did a re-start, but can't make the larger font permanent.

Suggestions?
