For quite a while, I have used google maps. When I am planning an event, I click on the location to be visited, click the copy address icon, and paste the address into my file. This has worked fine for years, no issue.

Today, when I click the icon, nothing is copied. I tried two browsers, Firefox and Chromium, same behavior. I rebooted the machine, same behavior. However, if I select text and crtl-c, copy works fine. I am quite certain that I have made no system changes since I did this last, which was less than a week ago.

What the eff is going on?

I just tried using another computer (which is not Windows 7) and the copy function works as expected. What is going on with my computer?????

I just tried a third computer, which is Windows 7, and the copy feature did not work. Seems to me like google is trying to screw those of us who still want to use an OS that offers some privacy...

In an attempt to get around this issue, I tried installing the add-on 'User-Agent Switcher', but it did not help. It seems that the effing idiots at google made a change that does not work with Windows 7. Clearly they did this out o spite because there is no other reason to have done this.

I never use it - but I tested and I can confirm that the "copy address" functionality is not working for me either, on Windows 7. Nor are the other copy functions on the information-panel for a place on Google Maps. The Google Maps solution will be adding a custom UserScript in your browser, and 'BlueCat Address Manager Copy to Clipboard on Hover' appears to offer a tweakable template. When tweaking this existing script, one would target the HTML class label "aria-label="Address: ..." for copying to the clipboard.Alternatively, the free Google Earth Pro often has far better loading speed than a Web browser, works on Windows 7, and (though the info box on places is limited) allows you to manually highlight-copy-paste the address in a full 'postal' format. e.g. ...
