Hi
I have dell inspiron 1525. I upgraded from vista to win 7 ultimate. I have internet connection and all the windows updates were fine include sp1. but all the browsers (I have 4 of them) don't work. once in a while one of them would work for a limited time. skipe and windows live messenger don't work as well.
I've tried to disable the firewall, nothing helps.
I can't check my drivers because the internet doesn't work well.
I have the latest versions of the browsers
please help
thanks
Eran

Hello Eran and welcome to Seven Forums.

Since this was an upgrade it's possible that your machine may barely meet the minimum specs needed for running 7. If you could provide some additional info like total RAM installed, hard drive size, etc (under User CP > Edit System Specs.) It's also possible you have too many things competing for system resources causing your browsers to lag.

In the meantime, if you uninstall all of the browsers and just use Internet Explorer, are you still having issues?

Welcome to Seven Forums elavi1. Try this:

1. Go to start
2. In search box, type cmd , right click cmd.exe, and then click "Run as administrator"
3. Then type:

netsh winsock reset

4. Press enter
5. Restart PC

Hopefully that will fix it, If not it will not harm anything.

I'm thinking that maybe something didn't go right when you upgraded from Vista to 7. Uninstall of your browsers except the default IE8. Then try running System File Checker. It will scan the integrity of all protected Windows 7 system files and replace incorrect, corrupted, changed, or damaged versions with the correct versions if possible. If the scan detects any problems, run the scan three times to make sure all problems have been corrected.

If you still can't use your browsers, side bar, etc then you might want to try a Repair Install. It should have no effect on your user accounts, data, programs, etc.

When you did the upgrade from Vista to 7, did you use a full install disk or an upgrade disk? You might have to use another computer and a CD or DVD, or a flash drive, visit the Dell Support site, and download the Windows 7 drivers for your 1525 if any are available.
