BSOD 0x0000007E + 0x00000019 upon removing a USB - No Minidumps

I was watching a youtube video on firefox with my earbuds. I unplugged my phone that had been charging on a USB on the front and the audio hung with the last .02 seconds of audio playing on repeat and the screen went black (no cursor, just black). The power indicator on the tower was still green, fans were still running at the same speed they had been. My monitor was still on, but the power button went from blue (on), to yellow (waiting for signal to display). No screen of death it all just locked up. I waited, attempted crtl, alt, delete and finally pulled the plug.

I waited 20 seconds and plugged it back in and started up. It asked me how I wanted to start and I selected normal, hoping it was just a one time hiccup. My computer came back on and started normally. Everything loaded properly, I reopened programs and everything was fine until firefox recovered my tabs and the video started playing again. 20 seconds later, maybe less, disaster. BSOD, similar audio hang, and now the tower itself was beeping (inside-the-case motherboard beep-of-danger).

I pulled the plug and restarted about 20 minutes later. Again everything started like normal and everything was fine. I plugged my earbuds in and out and played a video I have stored on that harddrive and everything was fine until I opened internet explorer and tried to play a video (different browser, different video, and not youtube). Browsing pages is fine but the second a video started to load I got a new blue screen of death.

I turned it off and let it sit overnight while I slept This morning I started it again, I was going to use Dell's MOBO diagonstic tool but didn't push f12 fast enough and then it was already asking how i wanted to start so I just let it start normally. I needed to run your tool to upload anyway. Once I got it started though, I can't get it to recreate the error. I loaded programs and watched videos online. I pretty much set up exactly what I had running yesterday and no BSOD. The one and only change I made was disabling hardware acceleration in firefox (from reading google ideas about online videos).

Also, there's no minidump for either BSOD yesterday. There's a few minidumps from a while ago that are probably unrelated as they're from a few weeks ago. I skimmed through event viewer and it said a mini dump couldn't be created from the full dump and that was saved at memdump, which is large and I won't upload unless it seems very necessary. What I did upload is the DM Log Collector and a zip containing a 'save' of the last two days admin events in event viewer.

Unfortunately we won't be able to give support to you as you have activated an OEM key that is connected to Acer and Gateway products but you are running a Dell product. There won't be any point to try and fix your problems as we won't know how the system will respond with the fixes.

Okay, you can't help, fine, since I can't recreate it anyway I have to assume that it was a one time hiccup, but ... 'Legit'? My windows isn't legal?

About a year ago a CD exploded in my disc drive. It was a fairly new acer minitower and everything is so close together in those and the explosion is really like a tiny bomb going off in your computer, so it BSOD'd and would not come back on. It was beyond the warranty so I took it to a computer repair place (of great repute) and they took my undamaged 'guts' and put it in a new minitower (the Dell). He said they'd 'just swap 'em out - no problem', direct quote.

I specifically asked if they'd have to reinstall windows and if I'd have to buy a new license from him (knowing they buy a bunch of licenses at cheaper and install for you) and he said no, that 'when your motherboard is damaged and is being replaced that windows allows you to move your license over as long as your license is only ever active on one system'. Are you saying what he did violated Microsoft's license? How was he able to activate it if it's not 'legit'? How do I still get windows updates? What would have happened if I upgraded to WIN10 when they were bugging me about it?

Yes I believe you got, I don't know how to put it lightly but you might have gotten fooled by the shop you went to. Microsoft has a policy of one OEM key per product.

They should have given you a new key that would have been made for the Dell system, the problem is that your previous OEM key was made for an Acer system and it had different parts etc and if you try to apply the fixes for your problem on this Dell, you might worsen things as it's not the same machine.

For example I noticed that WatAdminSvc wasn't running nor did I find any mention of it anywhere on your system. WAT stands for Windows Activation Technologies, many pirates used for a while a program called "removeWAT" and I think that is what the people in the computer shop used to get past activation.

And well yes you might have been able to update to W10 but there I think you would have been met with the message in the bottom right corner that you are not running a legitimate version of W10.

Don't sugarcoat it, if I'm a pirate (albeit unbeknownist to me) I want to know.

It's so craptastic being lied to, especially when I was all ready to buy a new license from them. How is not selling me something making them money? It my own fault though, I was so happy that I wouldn't have to spend an entire day reinstalling software and moving files back over that I just trusted what he said. I guess if anything ever really goes wrong with my desktop I'll have to take it back to that exact shop because they'll know what they did to bork it to begin with. I'll also have to INSIST that they do it right (not illegally). :huh:

For the initial problem though, I don't actually think it was my system that caused the error because I was on my laptop last night (different maker, different OS, different wifi and different browser) and the exact same thing happened. The audio in the middle of a youtube video hung, played a loud buzz and then stopped working. The whole computer didn't crash though. The page stopped responding and I pushed f5 and it refreshed and started playing again. That's what happened with my desktop, but I just happened to also be unplugging my phone at the time and the combo made it much worse, or it's just purely coincidental.

I was going to try to update my audio or graphics drivers, but I was waiting for someone here to suggest that could help and then walk me through it because I wasn't really comfortable doing it 'on my own'. Now that maybe my system is unstable to begin with, maybe I shouldn't mess with any of it? How safe is it to upgrade drivers if my mobo chipset isn't ... idk, the right one or whatever?

We see this problem often occuring, it is just the way those shops work unfortunately.
However, this doesn't mean you're a pirate, more a victim.

These keys are keys used for pre-installing laptops by flashing the key into the BIOS. The activation method has a procedure that when Windows is being installed, on the first reboot after installation the stuff in the BIOS is being checked with the installation. If everything is OK, the system activates.

By using an exploit that removes the WAT, they can 'activate' the system 'without problems' where Windows Updates keeps working. After some time many get the message that they've not activated there system, due to an update that broke the exploit.

Not necessarily, I'm very sure that may who have illegally activated their system have upgraded to Windows 10 without any problem

What you also could do is ask in the shop for a fresh installation of Windows 7 on an SSD and then plug it in and start moving over stuff from your current system but I'm sensing that you maybe aren't that tech savvy?

But on the other hand, I don't understand why you would go back to store where you got fooled with the OS, at least I would search for a new store but maybe there aren't many tech shops near you?
