I am randomly getting this BSOD. Sometimes the PC is only on for around 5 minutes, sometimes it happens after the PC has been on for a few hours or even days. No matter if I'm on the Internet or not, creating documents, virus scanning, or just at idle time. Happens anytime. Here is the BSOD specifics from the Event Viewer Bugcheck:

0x000000c5 (0x05d7c0d4, 0x00000002, 0x00000001, 0x82f2c943)
Event ID - 1001
Qualifiers - 16384
Guid - {ABCE23E7-DE45-4366-8631-84FA6C525952}
Keywords - 0x80000000000000

System specs:
Windows 7 Ultimate 32-bit
NVidia nForce 780i SLI S775 Motherboard
Dual NVidia GeForce GTX285 648m 1GB DDR3 (SLI Bridged) Graphics Cards
Dual Western Digital VELOCIRAPTOR 300GB 10,000 rpm Hard Drivres (RAID 0-Stripe Array)
4gb Corsair Dominator XMS2 8500 DDR2 1066 RAM Memory
Intel Core 2 QX9650 3.0GHz QuadCore Processor (no overclocking)
Norton Internet Security 2012

I always keep all software & drivers for everything updated, especially the NVidia drivers & Windows Updates. I kind of suspect the problem may be with the NVidia graphics cards or drivers, not sure tho. Could possibly be the Norton Internet Security. Enclosed is the .zip folder. Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thank you.

Welcome
Your reports are hinting at a driver, lets try to ascertain which one or if it is indeed a driver.
Driver Verifier
I'd suggest that you first backup your data and then make sure you've got access to another computer so you can contact us if problems arise. Then make a System Restore point (so you can restore the system using the Vista/Windows 7 Startup Repair feature).

In Windows 7 you can make a Startup Repair disk by going to Start....All Programs...Maintenance...Create a System Repair Disc - with Windows Vista you'll have to use your installation disk or the "Repair your computer" option at the top of the Safe Mode menu .

Then, here's the procedure:
- Go to Start and type in "verifier" (without the quotes) and press Enter
- Select "Create custom settings (for code developers)" and click "Next"
- Select "Select individual settings from a full list" and click "Next"
- Select everything EXCEPT FOR "Low Resource Simulation" and click "Next"
- Select "Select driver names from a list" and click "Next"
Then select all drivers NOT provided by Microsoft and click "Next"
- Select "Finish" on the next page.

Reboot the system and wait for it to crash to the Blue Screen. Continue to use your system normally, and if you know what causes the crash, do that repeatedly. The objective here is to get the system to crash because
Driver Verifier is stressing the drivers out. If it doesn't crash for you, then let it run for at least 36 hours of continuous operation (an estimate on my part).

If you can't get into Windows because it crashes too soon, try it in Safe Mode.
If you can't get into Safe Mode, try using System Restore from your installation DVD to set the system back to the previous restore point that you created.

Driver Verifier - Enable and Disable

Hello Richard. Thanks for the reply. I've done what you suggested. It blue screened right away before Windows ever loaded up. I rebooted 5 different times & it always came up with the same BSOD.

It didn't list the name of the offending driver, but here's the info:

0x0000007e (0xc0000005, 0xa1995503, 0x807868c4, 0x807864a0)

Also, since I posted the BSOD last night I uninstalled & reinstalled Norton Internet Security 2012. So far, my PC hasn't blue screened on it's own yet. The reason why I did this is that some of the time it would BSOD right after I ran Norton LiveUpdates. However, this isn't always the case. Usually it BSOD when the PC is idle during screen saver mode, or when I'm right in the middle of doing doing something. Your help is much welcome.

It blue screened right away again before Windows loads. Here's what the code is:

0x000000c9 (0x00000006, 0x00000103, 0xb568cf00, 0x00000000)

Then, after I went into Safe Mode, I went to Driver Verifier to delete all the settings so I could boot back to normal...it came up with a different blue screen before I could complete that process. It somehow rebooted normally after that, but when I went to make you another set of dump files it came up with yet another different BSOD. Hopefully you can see what I'm trying to explain from the logs.

Forgot to mention last post that I did uninstall SuperAntiSpyware & redid the Driver Verifier test & that was the results afterwards. I checked all of my NVidia software & it is all up to date according to the NVidia website. I wonder if I need to uninstall all of that & go back to older NVidia drivers?

Here's an update. I uninstalled all NVidia software, including the Realtek audio driver that NVidia has on their website. I redid the Driver Verifier & rebooted. It came up with another BSOD, 0x000000c4 with pxhelp20.sys listed as the offender. I Google searched that & found that to be part of my Sonic/Roxio Creator software. So, I uninstalled Roxio Creator & redid the Driver Verifier all over again. I have rebooted at least 3 times now with the Driver Verifier working & NO blue screens. Can't believe it. I'm going to do as you suggested & just leave my PC on for around 2 1/2 or 3 days & see what happens. If all goes well I'll probably reinstall things one at a time & rerun the Driver Verifier settings each time & see what happens.

You've given me real good information on using Driver Verifier, which I've never used in the past. At least now I have a positive direction to go in. You're a great help. I'll post back later with any updated info.

Here's the 4th dump report so you can check the latest progress.

Thank you,

Hello Richard,
Here's the latest information. After I uninstalled all the NVidia software, SuperAntiSpyware, & Roxio Creator I reran Driver Verifier. It did bluescreen again the next day, which was 8/31/2012. Here is the code:

0x000000c4 (0x00000062, 0x99a98a94, 0x99a989a0, 0x00000004)

After I rebooted the PC I reran Driver Verifier again & it hasn't bluescreened at all in 4 days of which the PC has always been powered on. I still haven't reinstalled any of the above software yet. Seems to be doing much better so far anyways.

Enclosed is the 5th dump report if you wouldn't mind examinig it.

Thank you.

Indicates that it is almost certainly a driver.
Run in clean boot. After you are sure you are not going to get a BSOD, replace one of the services removed. Once you are sure no BSODs do it again. We will find out what is causing the BSODS.
It is most important that you use the computer for an extended period of time to be sure there are no BSODs before starting to restore.

Richard,
Ok, here's what I just did just so you know. In msconfig I disabled all items in Startup. In Services I hid all Microsoft items & then disabled all remaining items. Rebooted & checked msconfig again...Norton Internet Security re-enabled itself automatically, so it is still running. I left it as such. I ran Driver Verifier again & deleted all settings, rebooted, & reran Driver Verifier once again & created all the settings as you had instructed before. Rebooted & so far so good. I will leave the PC running for a few days again. I hope this is how you wanted me to proceed. If not just let me know. Thank you.

Dont need verifier. We just want to see if you BSOD. If not, the problem is one of the deactivated services.

Richard,
It bluescreened again a little while ago. 0x000000c5. Here's the newest dump files. As I mentioned a couple of posts ago, in msconfig everything that is not Microsoft has been disabled, with the exception of Norton Internet Security 2012, which re-enabled itslef automatically. I think I might uninstall Norton for the time being, using the Norton Removal Tool to completely remove it. I can then install Microsoft Security Essentials in it's place & leave the PC on again for an extended period of time. Let me know if you wish for me try anything else. Been thinking about formatting the hard drive & fully reloading Windows 7 Ultimate again.
