Hello, since i built this machine i have had constant yet random BSODs and have been unable to get DIMM2 and DIMM4 to work. The general stop error is oxoooo124 iv been trouble shooting (testing ram, swapping power supplies, trying every hardware combination of what i have imaginable) and my system even ran prim95 in torture test mode for 4 hours without failing. i have saved 4 minidumps if they would be of any help. Im just at a loss, can anyone give me a clue? I know its not the motherboard because this very thing is the reason i went back to my MSI board.

Fixed?

yes and no.

1. Never back post. Include your zip file in your next post.
2. Use SPECCY and fill out your specs fully and completely. You don't even tell us how much ram you have. If you have 9 HDDs connected, then list all 9. Lots doesn't tell us anything.

listing all 9Hdds seems a bit overboard and pointless, but i concede it as a possible necessity. I will correct my information now.

OK, Ive done my best to correct it. Do you see anything else i may have missed? As i mentioned i cant seem to get DIMMs 2&4 to work so it should be 8GB but as of now i only have 4GB.

still looking for the zip file in your most recent post.

Do you have all 9 hdd connected at once?

If you remove the ram from slots 2 and 4 do you still get BSODs?
One of your dumps indicates that you are overclocking.

Stop OVERCLOCKING while we are diagnosing.

One of your dumps indicated that you have 2 x 2GB chips of OCZ2G10662G memory installed.

are these sticks on the QVL, Qualified Vendors List, for your MSI MS73-74 board?

8Hdds my mistake on the number and yes they are.

The computer doesnt even post with sticks in dimm 2 and 4

and yes my ram is certified.

I have been testing for weeks and overclock doesn't make a difference so i just stuck with it.

3. The memory may be certified, and that is good. However, the question is: are these sticks on the QVL, Qualified Vendors List, for your MSI MS73-74 board?

Is it supposed to be attached to every post? I can clearly see you got the zip file, because you said you looked at the dumps so i guess im confused. Attaching it to this one. How to i check the QVL? Also as soon as i hit submit reply on this i will go set all the clocks to default. im going to google the QVL thing and get back to you on that momentarily.

Looked up the QVL, it says its tested and supported with 2 and 4 dimms. In researching i came across tons of post saying the QVL is pure BS. For the sake of figuring out the problem though im gonna trust the expert (that being you, lol) im not still screwing up my posts am i? I really want to be as helpful as possible to get this figured out and it just seems like every post is a screwup on my part.

First: the QVL is not pure baloney stuff.

Did you stop overclocking? yes/no

Will be back in less than an hour. Must first check a couple of fine points.

First i want to say thank you. I know you're not getting paid for this and i appreciate it greatly. Attached is a zip file with my speccy snap and my screen cap of my disk drives.

It doesn't seem like we are communicating clearly. not only have i told you that i spent more time NOT overclocked troubleshooting than i have spent overclocked, but in my last post i told you i was setting the clocks to default. Several of the questions you have asked or points you have tried to enforce seem to be from lack of reading my whole post. I my be long winded at times, but im only trying to be informative.

You seem to be focused on my disk drives, do you believe they may be the source of the issue?

Thank you for the step by step directions. Honestly i had no idea the snipping tool existed. Ive always just opened the Drive console from the Computer management tab, its nice to know the executable name. I love learning little things like that. Im never bothered enough to go digging to find them, but i sure don't mind remembering them when someone shows me.

Your E drive needs some more headroom. suggest making more space available on E:

Although very unusual setup, I see nothing there which would be contributing to your problem.

Will now look at the speccy file.

Would you happen to know whether you have:
5 Sata II + 1 eSATA port
or
6 Sata II

I was researching info on your board and normally speccy will give me what I need, but this time not.

Do you have the box that the mobo came in? The box should have some additional designation information for your motherboard.

Your bios is out-of-date, in either case.

true. I made a typo. Drive should have been H:

Optical Drive:MATSHITA BD-CMB UJ160B ATA Device

Also have an Asus ha1002xp netbook with Win 7 Ultimate installed.
I researched and i see what you mean. The drive is less than 2% fragmented though and i dont see it getting any worse.

My board has 6 sata II and 2 E-sata. I currently have 1IDE, 6 SATA/II and 1 E-sata connected.
