Hi Forum

I see this crops up from time to time and usually ends up being a driver issue.
So, can anyone help me to identify which driver is the culprit here?
Thanks in hopeful anticipation.

Simon

Hi Simon1957,

Please remove items from the startup
How to remove items from startup - Windows 7 Help Forums
These programs could interfere with the boot process giving you trouble.

Daemon tools, Alcohol 120% and Power Archiver Pro uses SCSI Pass Through Direct (SPTD), which is a well known cause for BSOD's.
Please remove Daemon Tools and run the SPTD pass through remover.

  1. Uninstall Daemon Tools
  2. Download the SPTD standalone installer and follow these steps:
    • Double click the executable to open it
    • Click on the button shown below

34700d1440923396-bsod-0x124-whea_uncorrectable_error-nothing-works-a887c9d9e7.png

If the button is grayed out, like in the image, there is no more SPTD installation on your system, and you can close the window

Thanks for the quick and helpful reply.
I've been using DT for years and never had a problem with it before.
I don't use SPTD and it isn't installed on my system.
Admittedly, this is a new computer, but most of the software I have was loaded on my old machine with no problems either.
I might try uninstalling DT for a while to test your theory while waiting to see if anyone can actually tell from the dumps which driver, if it is a driver, has actually caused the problem.

There are a couple of causes.

The ASmedia USB 3.0 driver
The Windows Anti-Malware protection system driver
The Intel Ethernet Connection driver
The Malwarebytes Web Acces Control driver
The Nvidia Video driver

1.
Please check here for driver updates

2.
Please do the following:
  • Open an admin command prompt
  • Copy/paste "sfc/scannow" (without quotes) and press enter
  • When it finished reboot your system
  • Open again an admin command prompt
  • Enter sfc/scannow again
If sfc/scannow does NOT say "Windows Resource Protection did not find any integrity violation", please upload the cbs.log file located at {windows partition}\Windows\Logs\CBS\, if the file is too large try a 3rd party uploader like dropbox, onedrive, google drive, mediafire etc.
System File Check(SFC a.k.a. Windows Resource Protection) needs to have your system rebooted in order for sfc to try to fix the problems that it finds.
