BSOD 0x116 When Starting Games

Hi!
Thanks for your time reading this. I couldn't find any thread with the same problem, so I created a new one.

I get a BSOD 0x116 caused by nvlddmkm.sys (nvlddmkm+0x1456D0) whenever I tried to start any game.

Bugcheck code: 0x116 (0xFFFFFA8007EA1010, 0xFFFFF8800F17E6D0, 0x0, 0x2)
Error: VIDEO_TDR_ERROR
product: NVIDIA Windows Kernel Mode Driver, Version 376.33 (not the latest driver, i know, i tried to reinstall older drivers to see if it works)

I tried updating windows and reinstall latest updates, tried the nvidia latest driver, reinstall windows 7, TdrDelay, just about any help I could find.

I also uploaded the dump files.

Hello rcrdef mate I would try uninstalling and reinstalling the NVidia driver using the version before the latest one http://www.geforce.com/drivers/results/119401

Hi ICIT2LOL, thanks for your suggestion.

That's my first thought too. I uninstalled my nvidia driver with DDU, then tried several versions of older drivers.
Still got BSODs.

Ok now I am assuming you have done the usual system scans sfc and chkdsk though that is just a personal thing that I do you can lose nothing by trying that in safe mode.
Plus I am assuming you have run soem malware scans if not try these
SUPERAntiSpyware | Remove Malware | Remove Spyware - AntiMalware, AntiSpyware, AntiAdware!
Malwarebytes | Malwarebytes Premium
AdwCleaner Download
ADW download from bleeping computer delete any rubbish found with the malware scans
NB If anyone who has Kaspersky as their security they may find it will not like ADW running and to stop the nagging just temporarily disbale the Kaspersky while one runs ADW


As the machine is a laptop replacing tr GPU is not an option but you could try a stress test on it Furmark is the usual one I use as long as you keep an eye o the temps while doing it. http://www.ozone3d.net/benchmarks/fur/ at worst the GPU has gone bad but have a look at some of my suggestions first.

Having said that it might even be worth running a memtest too

Now to make absolutely we are on the same page the memtest linked here is the only*one we recommend and it MUST be run for at least 8 passes or you may as well not bother. It is rather lengthy and best left for a downtime for that machine - overnight is good. Having said that you can stop the test if errors show up while you are around and then it is a matter of tracking down the bad stick of RAM.* RAM - Test with Memtest86+ - Windows 7 Help Forums

Ok mate just make sure of those 8 passes unless you get errors before then you can stop the memtest.

Just done one myself and I got errors on two sticks in under a minute you might get lucky

*ICIT2LOL : I came to the conclusion that my graphic card is broken and old. I'm getting a new graphic card. Even considering getting a new computer. Thanks for your answers.

Ok mate then why not build one yourself it really isn't rocket science though building today you need to keep an eye on the costs because some of the top end stuff is getting out of hand costwise. For example I saw a matched set of DDR4 RAM (4x8GB) recently for $1200 and that is just pretty wrong.
I would suggest if you are going to try - a Skylake set up with a Z170 chipset after that it all becomes semantics and very confusing as a lot of the Kabylake setups will not work with or are very hard to get to work with Windows 7 as they want you to use 10.

Now don't get me wrong I have machines running both and the 10 you can set up to be like 7 but at a cost of control over what you would like Microsoft to know about you though in all probability they know more than they would admit to using 7 as does Google and Apple etc etc .

I would also unless you game pretty hard choose a locked CPU and a decent mid range price GPU and RAM. The point is that you get what YOU want not what some fellow in some shop or factory has put into a machine that later on you need to upgrade to what you want. BUT be careful it is VERY addictive
