Hello Finlay and welcome to Sevenforums.

BSOD Analyse

I believe I've found your issue. You have a wireless USB adapter yes? They don't usually run very good with Windows. I'd suggest you to update the driver if you desire to continue using it.

well i don't think that is the issue i accidently damage windows and could not correct it, so formatted hard drives and reinstalled windows, got blue screen of death during the first use.
so must be a hardware problem but since every thing now left in the computer is no more than a week old don't know what it could be.
will have to re-upload new details on what caused that last blue screen.

Hello again,

Alrighty-
  • Any sort of overclocking should be stopped. Overclocking is obviously producing a lot of heat. Also make sure that you're not having a motherboard feature that overclocks your computer automatically.
  • Make sure that your computer is running cool. Install Speedfan for instance, and make sure that fans are running at the right speed. Also track down weird or noisy sounds.
  • Windows 7 may have bugs in the OS if you ain't updating. Make sure that Windows Update is running on automatic updates, and not manual, or the 'never' feature.
  • Let's stress test some of the hardware. The most common causer within hardware would be the memory -

There could be a driver could be causing the memory to be borked, but we're usually suggesting a memory test before moving forward. Do a scan with Memtest86+. Memtest is a scanner that'll check your sticks for errors. To ensure that we'll know if it's the slots on the motherboard that's broken, or the sticks itself - we have a little procedure we'll recommend. Remove 1 stick, scan the other with Memtest in the current slot. After 7 passes, move the stick to another slot and scan, and so on and so forth until you've scanned all the sticks, and all the slots, one by one.

Memtest86+ - Advanced Memory Diagnostic Tool
  • The next would be your processor -

  • If you have your system under warranty, consider replacing it.

Best Regards,
Frederik.

yeah it has not crashed when in safe mode, but since sometimes it can take a while to crash might just of been luck
done the memory test and replaced memory and did new test on new memory and it was fine
will try the processor test tomorrow

Great, we might also want to run Driver Verifier soon as it didn't crash in safe mode, but I want to do one troubleshoot at a time. By that we all won't get confused. :)

Aaneas,

Would you please:

Update your SevenForums System Specs
User CP (located on the top menu bar) |
Your Profile | Edit System Spec
(left-hand column)

To gather info, use Speccy (my favorite) or SIW or System Info

In the System Manufacturer Block, enter:
Manufacturer and Model and
ADD the word laptop, desktop, netbook or tablet.
For example:
Toshiba Satellite L305D notebook.

Provide full windows version info, for example:
MS Windows 7 Ultimate SP1 64-bit

Use the “Other Info” block for Optical Reader,
Mouse, touchpad, wifi adapter, speakers, monitor, etc

Scroll down and click on SAVE CHANGES.

You will find that in Speccy, you can select info from the display
using your mouse/touchpad and then paste that info into your specs.

SIW is a marvelous program, but the free version does not offer
this capability.

computer has been completely wiped so no, i should not have it, i have not installed any of the updates or services pack yet, since it was installed last night and did not connect it to the internet until i ran the diagnostics today.

I messed up the hard drive when it crashed and only way to get back to working was formatting it and re-installing windows.
not sure if service pack 1 was installed before or not.

so do you think installing service pack 1 should solve it?

What I think is that one should always keep their win 7 fully updated and up-to-date.

Such is rather much a must to have stable system.

UPDATING YOUR WIN 7
1. ASSURE THAT YOU RECEIVE ALL UPDATES
WIN | type WINDOWS UPDATE | ENTER |
Change settings (left-hand column) |
checkmark all four of the boxes | OK
button

Approve any dialog boxes presented. Let Windows install any update features.

WIN is the key with the Microsoft flag on top.

2. INSTALL CRITICAL UPDATES
Check for Updates
(left-hand column)
Install ALL critical updates.
Restart your computer (even if not prompted)

Repeat this procedure until there are no more critical updates.

DO NOT TRUST the “Windows is up to date” in center of dialog. until you see that TWICE IN A ROW!

3. INSTALL IMPORTANT UPDATES
Use the “critical update” procedure until all important updates are installed.

4. INSTALL OPTIONAL UPDATES
Use the “critical update” procedure until all optional updates are installed.

Under Optional updates you will be presented with a list of about 34 language updates.
You can hide those updates so that aren't continually notified of those updates. When you click on 34 optional updates are available, then you
a) highlight all of the language updates,
b) right-click anywhere in the highlighted list.
c) click on Hide Updates,
d) OK button.

UPDATE GOLDEN RULES

Install ALL, yes, ALL updates.
This is Win 7 and not Vista or XP (eXPired).

UPDATE IS HUNG –TAKING FOREVER
Hung is very doubtful unless you interrupted updates.

CTRL + SHIFT + ESC key combo will pop-up the Task Manager.
Lo and behold, Windows Update is still running!

You hold down the CTRL and SHIFT keys.
While holding them down, tap the ESC key once.

ok I started getting the blue screen of death again, it seems to have started after i installed service pack 1 as when i installed it it happened the next day.

or it may have something to do with a game i play called UFO: Aftershock as it will no longer work since the BSOD.
