Hello,

i just brought addition to my pc, another 4GB of RAM's. After inserting them, computer crashes all the time after 10minutes of working. I brought the same vendor DDR2 rams, but there are some unconsistency in timings. adding SPD of two slots:

I ran reports with 4gb of ram, removed new ram's.

Welcome
The reports come up as memory problems.
May I suggest that either the RAM that you bought was defective or you mixed and matched which is a BIG NO NO
May I further suggest that you RMA your new Ram and then buy all that you need all at once. Dont try to mix and match.
I will suggest a memory test as the slots may be bad, but I doubt it.

I brought the same vendor, same frequency ram's, can it unmatch? Take a look at spd screen in my first post, everything is the same, except timings.

Is there are any solutions except memory test? i will try to do that, but hope for another suggestion. I have more than a week till RMA expires, so i want to try out everything before doing it.

Your reports show a memory problem. You just bought ram. The only thing that I can think of is the memory test.

If it runs with some of the ram removed, the possibilites are limited
Bad ram
Bad slot
The memory test will show that and you have proof with the RMA if its the stick.

Added all of my rams, started scan and in 20minutes it gave me five erorrs in different places. SO for now i think i should first leave only my old rams, check them in all tests, then start adding other pieces. Just wondering, should i insert both of them in the same time or stick by stick and after every insertion do the scan?

Moreover, could you tell me how rams should be inserted? Then i had all of BSOD, my ram selection was like this:

1st channel:
yellow slot - old ram
black slot - new ram

2nd channel:
yellow slot - old ram
black slot - new ram

Does this have some importance? Maybe it would change something if i install old ones in 1st channel, new ones in 2nd or something like that? Just trying to figure it out.

The first thing that I would do, at this point, is to take a good stick and test each slot for at least 8 passes. The more the better.
If all the slot pass, I would then try to determine which stick is bad.
As far as inserting into the slots, the best way is to use trial and error. There are only a few ways that you could insert them.

Ok, so for now i have such a results:

One old ram in all slots - everything is correct.
Two old rams in all slots - correct.
Old and new rams together - errors.

Removed everything, added new stick in channel, already there are 1error in #4, 11 in #5 and 12 in #6 test. If the ram is bad, i guess the same errors should be in other slots too, correct?

Tested one new stick in a couple of slots and in both i finded errors. But failing addresses are not all equal to each over. I mean In second scan there are some other failing adress, and where it matches, good and bad sectors do not match. later i will add some screens.

Hi Tom

Please fill out your system specs and if you could provide the timings and part number from both sets of RAM.

Might be better help coming your way with a little more information.

Hi Kipper, in first post i added spd screen of both sticks, but ok, will do it a little bit later for you, timings are of a little bit, :/

Edit: As i said before, i will upload test results later, but i find strange thing, at least for me.

In memtest there are few lines about system: memory, chipset, settings.

Take a look what it shows to me:
#1Intel X38/X48 (ECC:Disabled) - FSB :334 Mhz - Type: DDR2
#2Intel X38/X48 (ECC:Disabled) - FSB :334 Mhz - Type: DDR2
#3Intel X38/X48 (ECC:Disabled) - FSB :334 Mhz - Type: DDR3
#4Intel X38/X48 (ECC:Disabled) - FSB :334 Mhz - Type: DDR3

As far as i know, ddr3 is not compatible with MB which run ddr2, so what it this? Mistake by the program?

I just finished scaning my memory and results are... Both NEW sticks were with errors in all of the slots while old worked correctly.

I just borrowed computer from my friend to check the rams in his mb.

First two photos are with one new stick in different slots.
Next two photos are with other new stick in different slots.
Last photo is with all ram inside.

The reason because i ran test for a so short time is because if it finds an error, it already failed the test. Moreover, i figured out that company, in which i brought rams supports RMA only 7days after purchase...Warranty is 36months, but who knows what they gonna say about that, so im short of time.

Im getting sick and tired of these ram demanding problems...

I guess this is my last shot in this thread. I ran couple of test in friends computer and.... tadaaaam, it works without any problems...

This is mine mb page: ASUSTeK Computer Inc. - Motherboards- ASUS P5E
This is his mb page: ASUSTeK Computer Inc. - Motherboards- ASUS M2N-E

Why the hell it work in M2NE and do not work in P5E if specifications are all the same? :!!!!! I havent adjusted bios, its stock, havent overclocked anything, everything is default... So what the...? :/
