BSOD After each time I turn on my computer from standby or hibernation

It is very annoying as my computer can not successfully be in sleep for or hibernation mode for long periods of time. Once I turn it on, it either loads into windows (usually the case), then it shortly freezes and shows the following error message.

Once in a while it would go straight to the error message before it even logs into windows.
I don't know what it is.
For a period of time, I thought it had to do with my wireless card because I manually upgraded it myself but in truth, the same thing happened (once in a blue moon) with my original wireless card as well. This was even right after I bought the computer.
It used to be that it happened once in a while, but now it is every single time. Now, I do not remember the last time it was in sleep mode for a good period of time and it successfully loaded everything up correctly.

Hi Matthew

The F4 BSOD has to do with your hard drive . Do you have an SSD if you do try updating the firmware . If you have a regular spinning hard drive might want to run a test on it using the manufacture diagnostic software .

Installation Instructions

Double click the Setup.exe. Click Next.

Click on I Agree for License Agreement, and then click Next.

Click Next to install the WinDFT to your Program Files folder

Click on Next to Confirm Installation

How To Use

Launch WinDFT from the Desktop

Select the device that you want to run the test on.

Click on Quick Test to run the Quick Test, or Ext Test to run the Extended Test. The Quick test should take a few minutes to run where as the Extended test will take much longer depending on the capacity of your drive.

Once the test has completed, you will see a message indicating either Pass or Fail.

This has to be done on another computer

The ISO file could be ran on the computer. Without removing the drive

You'll need a CD burner and an empty cd-r to create the bootable disc .


To USE

boot to the cd .

Press 2 to select " ATA support only "
Press A key on your keyboard to agree when you get to the License Agreement screen
Choose the hard drive you want to run the test on and press Y on the Device List screen

The test will start . If you get a green square your drive is good if you get a red one it's bad .

No you would have to boot to the cd .

That would be fine as well. I am able to burn an iso file to a CD or to boot from a flash drive. Do you know of such a program?

You should be able to burn the .iso file from within Windows 7 . Right click on the ISO and choose Burn disc
image .

Place a check next to verify disc after burning and click on the Burn Button.

Especially, why is this only after stand by? If something is wrong with the HD, shouldn't issues appear various places. Something is really weird.

Download the ISO then once it is finished downloading right-click and choose Burn Image to disc . Place a check next to Verify disc after burning disc then click on the Burn button .

Place the disc into the laptop and reboot press ESC to bring up the one time boot menu. Choose your optical drive and proceed .
Press 2 to select " ATA support only "
Press A key on your keyboard to agree when you get to the License Agreement screen
Choose the hard drive you want to run the test on and press Y on the Device List screen

The test will start . If you get a green square your drive is good if you get a red one it's bad .

We are running the diagnostic to see what the results are . If it passes the test than we will go from there .

Press " R " for it to Rescan Bus this time choose number 1 and see if your hard drive is listed. If not go into BIOS and see what the Hard drive Configuration is . Is it IDE or SATA or AHCI. If its AHCI change it to either SATA or IDE.
