Solved BSOD after restarting computer! Related to EtronXHCI.sys

Whenever I try to turn off my computer, I get a BSOD. I have attached the .dmp file. It says it is related to my USB Host or something, but I don't remember installing any software/driver in that area. If anyone could help, it would be greatly appreciated!

As you said, the BSOD is caused by Etron USB 3.0 Extensible Host Controller Driver.

Thanks for the reply. I downloaded the latest driver from the site you linked me. In the middle of the install, the BSOD occurs. :/

I booted Safe Mode with networking and tried to install, with no success. I get the "Error:-1601 The windows Installer service could not be accessed. This can occur if the Windows installed is not installed correctly." I need to go to school now. Hope you can reply back, and thanks for your help.

Try once more in normal mode. Get the driver from Etron Technology, Inc.

I solved it! I just change my boot drive priority options in my BIOS. I'm not sure if I should download the driver, though.

If it is working good, you may leave the driver update pending for future needs.

if you get this error it will be because windows installer is not activated and you will need to activate it and then start the install again :


Safe Mode.
Type this in a command prompt:
REG ADD "HKLM\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Control\SafeBoot\Minimal\MSIServer" /VE /T REG_SZ /F /D "Service"

and then

net start msiserver

This will start the Windows Installer Service.

Safe Mode with Network
REG ADD "HKLM\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Control\SafeBoot\Network\MSIServer" /VE /T REG_SZ /F /D "Service"

and followed by

net start msiserver

This will start the Windows Installer Service.

try both options if it doesn't work the first time. After you have done this restart the install and it will complete.
