hello everyone, my dell inspiron 1545 laptop has refused to restart, after i downloaded updates, installed these updates and tried to restart. the error message on the screen is as follows:

a problem has been detected and windows has been shut down to prevent damage to your computer.
a process of thread crucial to the system operation has unexpectedly exited or been terminated. if this is the first time you are seeing this, restart your computer, if this screen appears again, follow these steps:
check to make sure any new hardware or software is properly installed.
if this is a new installation, ask your hardware or software manufacturer for any new windows updates you might need.
if problems continue, disable or remove any newly installed hardware or software. disable BIOS memory options such as caching or shadowing.
if you need to use safe-mode to remove or disable components, restart and press F8.

but i have tried to uninstall the updates from safe-mode, it keeps telling me that windows uninstaller was not properly installed.

please everyone, what do i do ? thanks for your prompt responses.

Sounds like your hard disk is on its way out, if there is files on there you might need to start backing them up while/if you can.

If that's d case, then I think I have lost them cos I can't do a backup from safe-mode. But can changing the battery also be the cause?
