BSOD Alienware ALX Area 51 during World of Warcraft

Hi

I have been getting various BSODs while I am playing world of warcraft. I have an alienware/dell system and their solution is to replace my entire computer instead of attempting to discover the causes for the BSOD. They have already replaced the memory and motherboard once and the graphics cards 3 times. I'm at my wit's end on trying to fix this.

I have attempted to use registry mechanic and reginout as well but those don't seem to do anything.

I have hopefully attached the minidump files correctly. I have some guesses as to what it could maybe be causing the BSOD, my logitech headset, gamepad, keyboard?

- x86 (32-bit) or x64 ? I have a 64 bit system - its an OEM version of windoes - an OEM or full retail version? - What is the age of system (hardware)? little over a year old - What is the age of OS installation (have you re-installed the OS?) no I haven't, about a year old but I've been updating.

Majority of these caused by USBPORT.SYS and old drivers. I would:

1-run a system file check
Run a system file check to verify and repair your system files.
To do this type cmd in search, then right click to run as administrator, then
SFC /SCANNOW

I followed your recommendation and did the SFC scannow and it found no problems with my system integrity.

I followed the USB driver FAQ and found some faded USB devices I uninstalled and I successfully have delete and recreated by plugging in my logitech g13 game pas a new INFCACHE.1file. We shall see if I have anymore bluescreens. Hopefully this will work!!!

How can I tell if it worked? Just wait and see if I bluescreen again and repost the minidump files?

I unfortunately obtained another BSOD after following your previous instructions.

I have had 26 BSODs and the latest one the 27th one concerns me. Also you said the majority of my BSODs were from the usb issues, could you be more specific as to what they were for? My alienware computer has a memory test I shall run just to be certain, but hopefully there is another quick fix you can recommend.

It occurred while I was playing World of Warcraft and had my Sirius internet music streaming.

the BCCode was 1e. Could this be a memory issue?

I ran the windows memory diagnostic and it found no errors. Waiting on you zigzag. I unfortunately cannot private message you because I am still a new member.

Windows memory diagnostic is not as good as memtest. It doesnt stress the memory far enough. You will be able to pm shortly

Zigzag in your previous post you didn't mention what the latest BSOD was caused by, the 27th one?

I just had another BSOD while PVPing on my priest in World of Warcraft.

Also, not sure if its worth mentioning but when I boot up I hear disconnect and reconnect sounds. I don't know if its my USB devices or what but any continue help you can provide will be greatly appreciated.

I don't know how to delete minidump files so I apologize for relisting all of the BSODs. In your first reply you said the majority of the BSODs were caused by USBPORT.SYS and old drivers. If you could elaborate on this and explain I how can update them I'd love to hear any suggestions.

Both still point to usbport.sys. How many usb devices are you using? Are you overclocking?

Logitech g15 keyboard
Logitech g 13 gamepad
Logitech g930 headset
Logitech g700 mouse

I'm not overclocking, at least not to my knowledge. I have not changed any of the default settings in the Catalyst Control Center Overdrive features, beyond the fan speed on the graphics cards.

YOu might have too many USB deivces. One way to resolve this would be to add a powered USB miniport to supply power to the above items.

I too have been having this issue recently. It sounds exactly the same, even down to the disconnect/reconnect sounds after it boots following from the crash.
I have a custom build machine with:
Windows 7 Ultimate x64 retail, fully patched.
foxconn blackops mobo
8gb corsair memory
Adaptec 1430 SATA controller
Dual ATI HD4870 X2
Intel Core 2 Extreme QX9650 @ 3.95Ghz

I've recently had a new PSU and more memory added from 4Gb to 8Gb and the issues have started when I got the machine back, but this also coincided with when WoW 4.2 was released.
In addition I also have the Logitech G15 and a Logitech MX Revolution mouse. Both are plugged in via the built in USB powered hub in the Dell monitor I use.

I have tried WoW in both DX9 and DX11, and with Crossfire enabled and disabled, but i still get the BSOD.

I hope this information is useful, please tell me any other info I should provide so we can find the cause of these issues that people are having.

Which of the items would you recommend moving to the powered USB hub? I've heard conflicting things about it being bad to put headphones or mice thru a hub because it affects responsiveness and or sound card issues. Is that not the case anymore?

It lists the cause of my latest BSODs, specifically the 26, 27, and 28th BSOD to be caused by the ntoskml.exe file and they're all KMODE-EXCEPTION-NOT_HANDLED errors.

Because Blue Screen view often blames an OS file when IT cant find the true reason. People who do BSOD analysis use windb and it takes lots of practice.

In Windb (when used by a experienced user) the cause is much more apparent

Well tonite I was able to raid without any bluescreens. I read that MSI Afterburner can cause BSODs so I uninstalled that.

I haven't setup the powered hub. Which of my devices would you recommend putting on the hub?

I've attached the latest BSODs. I have uninstalled MSI Afterburner because after some scouring over the internet I found some forums that claimed it was not WIndows 7 friendly and could cause BSODs.

I had a somewhat of a good World of Warcraft raiding this evening, and I only had 2 BSODs toward the end.

Its very frustrating because from all of my google searches usually the BSOD is more specific but mine are just a bunch of 000000XXXXXXXX 1E is the only distguishable characteristic.

This wouldn't be an overheating issue could it? According to Catalyst Control Center just from browsing on the computer I'm at 52C. Could these bluescreens be triggered by overheating issues?

Any thoughts or suggestions would be greatly appreciated.

1. For the hub if its a power issue, which of my devices should I put thru them? All? logitech g13 gamepad, lgoitech g15 keyboard, logitech g700 mouse, logitech g930 headset. Does it matter which ones I choose?

2. What were the other BSODs caused by? You mentioned in an earlier post that the majority of them were caused by the USBPORT.SYS but you didn't mention what were the other causes.

The alienware people are giving me a brand new computer, because they are unable to solve the problem. I'm still curious what has caused this and what I can do to prevent it from reoccurring on my new desktop.
