Have built this computer for a friend. It's up to date with the latest Windows Updates, have checked all drivers for the latest version (that I could including BIOS and SSD). First time it crashed the owner was working in a Word Document, latest was watching a DVD in Windows Media Player.

volmgrx.sys
KERNEL_DATA_INPAGE_ERROR

It also randomly doesn't recognise the SSD (which is where the OS is). Turning completely off and on again seems to fix it.

Have run the script and took a photo of the BSOD. Thanks in advance =)

Update - now occurs after login screen appears

The BSOD is now appearing after the login screen appears every couple of times I boot. The mouse will still move, but I can't click or type on/in anything. The BSOD then appears and the boot drive is not recognised. It then boots fine after turning the computer completely off and on again.

I have also run chkdsk on the three drives (wow that took ages), and HD Tune to check benchmarks. I have attached the three drives results in the zip files. I will continue the rest of the scans but thought I would post an update in the interim.

The MFT was corrected in the previous chkdsk, another chkdsk is helpful to ensure the same problem doesn't return as that would indicate something else seriously wrong.

Some free space was marked as allocated, the opposite would've been more serious, but having a file system check does help from time to time.

Resolved...?

Thanks axe0. It hasn't died recently, so hopefully that should have been it!

Appears to only happen at startup

So the BSOD appears to only appear after starting the computer up for the first time after a while. It goes to the log in screen, you can move the mouse, but when you click on the user or hit enter the computer appears to stall (I can still move the mouse but can't type or click on anything) and then the BSOD appears. When it reboots it doesn't find the OS. Turning it off completely and starting again comes up with the start Windows in Recovery mode or normal. I choose normal, and it boots fine. It hasn't happened just randomly during use lately.

Another point, I inserted the original windows installation disk, and the recovery disk I made, and it says the version of windows is not compatible.

When I initially installed windows on the SD it put the boot segment on one of the other HDDs. I then transferred it over to the SD. I'm guessing the next step is to wipe and start again, but would rather avoid having to install all the programs etc again...

Again, thanks in advance.

It could occur that when other drives are connected too while installing Windows, the installation doesn't go as it should like a partition being installed onto another drive.

What Windows versions, the exact version, is on the installation disk?
