BSOD at random times, roughly twice per day

For the last 2+ weeks I've been dealing with BSODs at random times during the day on my Mac Mini 5,2- don't believe it's a heat issue because I've been watching core temps and some of the BSODs occur overnight while there is no stress on the machine. Conspicuously was not happening during full screen starcraft 2 at first, which is the most taxing thing I run on the machine, so I initially figured it was instability caused by the antivirus which gets put into semi-sleep during full-screen gaming mode. But have since uninstalled AVG and replaced with MSE, with no change. Plus got a crash during SC2 today. Other crashes have occurred while using excel, chrome, skype, etc, including mini-crashes constrained to individual threads / tabs in chrome.

Any help diagnosing this would be super-appreciated. I went through some of the output generated by the SF tool and it looks to me that it's crashing during different applications - to my untrained eye I couldn't see the pattern.

A lot of AVG leftovers are remained there. And those are contributing to the issue.

Probably you dont know that AVG is still auto-starting with windows.

As AVG is already uninstalled, it will be highly difficult to search for the all leftovers and and clean them one by one. The time and effort it will take is much more than starting it afresh by doing a clean reinstall.

Next time, never use such a crap like AVG. Its an antivirus that I will prefer a virus more than it.

Also, some display failures are also detected.

You need to update your ATI/AMD display driver to the latest WHQL.
You can get it from the link in our forum, http://www.sevenforums.com/graphic-...alyst-video-driver-windows-7-a.html#post17671, or you may go to AMD Graphics Driver and Software and opt for Automatically Detect and Install the appropriate driver for your card.

During installation, you may opt for advanced installation, and install the display driver only, not the Catalyst Control Center.

So, If I have been in your place, I would have performed a clean reinstall of windows. , with an updated display driver.

Thanks for the reply. Yeah learned my lesson on AVG. Since my last post I have used the utility they provide on their site that does a more thorough uninstall than their normal uninstaller (not sure why you wouldn't just do that from the start, but that's another issue). I also updated the graphics drivers on my system to the latest- unfortunately because of the nature of apple's hardware and bootcamp combo, I can't use WHQL drivers, only beta, so now I'm running the latest beta ATI drivers.

Hopefully these will combine to do the trick. If not, I'm sure I'll be back with another mini dump lol
