Hello, I've been having problems with BSOD for a while. Sometimes just watching videos on youtube other times playing league of legends. I'd apreciate your time and any kind of help to solve this problem.
I'm running a custom built desktop with windows 7 Ultimate x64.

This is my first post, so if anything is missing don't hold back. Thank you

(When i say browsing google i mean chrome)

Edit: After replacing my sticks with a newer version of my sticks it went off with bluescreens almost each hour while i was playing League of Legends (new dump files in the attachments).

Hello and welcome LeftWild mate some system specs really are necessary for us to help you http://www.sevenforums.com/tutorials/180324-system-info-see-your-system-specs.html I know they are posted in the dump files you sent but it means digging through them and it takes an awful lot of time to do that when we can just click on the system specs at the bottom and see.

Now there seems to be some issues with the memory in the dump files so please run memtest for at LEAST 8 PASSES it must be that many because it takes that many to pick up problems. It takes a long time and many leave it running overnight - it depends on how much RAM you have in see pic for what you will see if errors come up.
Download this and make the disk bootable MemTest86 - Offical Site of the x86 Memory Testing Tool

I apologize for the lack of information, I inserted all the specs on my specs page so you can easily see them.
Since i work at home and i need my computer I must test the memory overnight as you sugested. As soon as i get the results I will update the thread. Just one small question: If it is indeed the memory giving errors is there a way to fix it or will I need to replace them?

That's good LeftWild I didn't mean to sound pedantic if I did come across that way it is just that we get so many new members post here and yet there is invariably no specs and it really gets a bit tedious as you can imagine having to constantly ask for them.

Now to answer your query well no there is no way to fix memory that has gone bad they are dedicated IC chips on the stick as you will have seen and to find which ones are responsible would take a miracle or a darn fluke to find and if one did to replace it with something compatible - if you could find that would take another miracle to unsolder the old one and insert the new so in a nutshell - impossible. Sorry the long explanation but many think that these things are repairable but in a world of throw away manufacture it is a fact of life.

Now if the memory is a matched pair or whatever then replacing the bad stick needs to be done in a manner that usually one tries to get the same brand and the same specs preferably the same model stick.
Now you probably know what you have got in the machine and if you cannot find the exact replacement then use my little ditty (see below) to find the next best and nearest to same specs as the good one is - if it is only one stick.
I say that because if you test with say two sticks and have errors then you will need to then run memtest again using one stick at a time to find the culprit for example
Stick 1 in slot one stick 2 in slot two if the sticks on their own do not error then it could be the slots (unusual) It is a tedious and very time consuming thing to do but the only way you will track down the faulty stick - if there are errors it might come up ok. I am just looking at the worst case scenario.

Using HW Info
You can test the volts on the PSU with HW Info HWiNFO, HWiNFO32/64 - Download < download the right bit version and close the right hand window select Sensors and scroll down to the power section where you will see what the volts are doing see my pic.
The original right hand window shows the machine running and is handy for that but for looking at the components in some detail close it and use the main left hand side panel
FOR OTHER COMPONENTS
Open each + down into the component itself and then click on it - in the right hand side will appear all sorts of details including brands speeds and other essential info that device. See pic for example.
You need only do Other Components see pic
Anyway I have given you enough for the time being let us know what comes up with the memtest.

Nice build by the way:)

I understand why you asked, and as I am the one asking for help I will answer any kind of question you present. I searched when you told me about memtest and i will test both RAM sticks and motherboard slots to be sure what's in fault.

If the RAM stick or the mobo is at fault, do you think I can have it replaced by the seller? I built the desktop no longer than a year, but I'm not sure if this kind of problem is covered by the 2 years warranty (since i did not overclocked the equipment and every piece is from the same store, I don't think that they can claim bad use)

Thank you i spent lot of time researching, too bad everything is expensive here in portugal, I could've built better with the same money in U.S.A

Yes mate I know we pay more than they do in the US for gear. But if the equipment is reasonably new yes go ahead and warranty it after all you paid good money for it. However having said that the memtest might be ok it is just an elimination process as we work through the problem.

Plus I am only saying test the memory because those dump files sort of head in that direction we might get lucky as RAM is usually stable and so are boards unless you clock the crap out of them.

So test with both sticks in first if no errors then ok but if there is that s when you will need to separate them to test.
But please keep us updated:).

Last night I did the tests I'll try to create an organized way to show what happened:

nt1s3.jpg

With these tests I see that my stick 1 is having problems which may be causing the BSODs, is that right?

(sorry about the table quality, it was quickly coded into html so no big details on it :) )

Ok sorry late reply mate the site has been down for maintenance and I have had to sleep during the day being on night duty.
So I can take it you got screens that look like in my pics I sent? If so that stick is bad and will need replacing.
Now from the info you posted stick 1 has errors in slots 1 & 2 and stick 2 has no errors so it looks like the culprit is stick 1 and well it has to go.

Sorry only way when you get a new one then just make sure you can get as close to the same specs and preferably brand as the dud one. If stick 1 was a matched one of a pair then the specs for stick 2 will be suffice for you to find a replacement.

So say for example stick 2 is a G-Skill abcd1234 X1 then just get exactly that and if you can't then it will have to be something that is as close to its specs as possible.
The alternative is to get another matched pair which is what I would prefer to do on a performance machine but it depends on your budget of course.

If you want some advise on RAM then visit this site and ask Tradesman on your needs he is very good on advising re RAM although it is a G- Skill related forum. Welcome to the G.SKILL TECH FORUM

By the by I use G-Skill myself where possible as I find it inexpensive and good:)

As I sent earlier the exact specs for those sticks can be got via HW Info and you can do that if you just leave out the bad stick and run the machine. It will be enough to do that with easily.

Hey but well done you did well:)

Yes i run Memtest and the while the stick 2 showed 0 errors the stick 1 showed errors as soon as the test started, so I'll take the stick to the store so they can test it and see that it has problems and hopefuly they will replace it with another stick from the same model.
Not sure if they can do that since these sticks were a pack. As soon as i get another stick (or if they deny to replace it) I will run some tests and update the thread. If they indeed deny replacing the stick should i use the bad one or keep going with less 4gb?

No mate do not use the bad one it is dead and needs trashing it will only keep causing problems. The 4GB you have will get you comfortably by until you can find a replacement but personally I would make it my business to get the store to replace it if it is not that old and to be honest I have worked with sticks that are well in excess of 20 years old so no excuse for shoddy goods.

Please keep us informed as you have done really well:D

Good luck I hope you get some satisfaction out of them after all it is your hard earned money you are shelling out.

As for repaying me think nothing of it I am here to help out as best I can even though I am not as experienced as some of the others. We all do this (well I do) for a hobby come interesting activity and like the other members expect nothing more than being appreciated if we do or can help:) Maybe one day I might be stuck as no one knows everything you might be able to suggest fixes for me!

But please do keep us (particularly me) up to date with how you go because it is good to see things through to the end.
John:)

PS I forgot to say it has been such a pleasure in dealing with this problem and you I must say have been very patient which sometime is not always the case.

Well i think if I am asking for help I am in no conditions to demand anything or rush you.
For the BSOD i can confirm it was the ram since I was having around 2 BSOD per day and since i remove the bad stick everything is going smooth :D

Hello, got my new ram sticks and it hold on for the first week but now its giving me bluescreens again. I'm not sure if it's the new sticks, if its the temperature or the power voltage. Or maybe the mobo is destroying all the sticks

Hello, got my new ram sticks and it hold on for the first week but now its giving me bluescreens again. I'm not sure if it's the new sticks, if its the temperature or the power voltage. Or maybe the mobo is destroying all the sticks
Now don't worry the mobo might not be wrecking to sticks but the wrong voltage from the PSU might be now have a look at my little ditty again and if you can get the machine to hold together while you run the test then send us back the results.
The section you want will be named like mine is Nuvoton - it might be something else but is usually indicated by having the Vbatt referenced - the other rails will be there.

Any rails that are 5% +/- of the required voltage is no good see this
Voltage Rails - Power Supply 101: A Reference Of Specifications

If you do not have the machine working then use a digital multimeter (very cheap these days - see pic) to measure the volts on the 24 pin plug to the mobo.
Stick the black meter lead to any black and the red lead to the other colours - see this for indicators (scroll down to see them)

By the by I am on holiday in New Zealand right now and wifi is hard to get where we go sometimes so be patient.

I might have figured out what was the problem. When I was using my friends stick my mobo set the frequency to DDR3 2400 and my new sticks can only handle 1600, I changed it to the right frequency and until now 0 BSOD.
What I noticed too with my low experience in BSOD analyse, was that some of my first crashes this month were about heat problems. I'm not sure if it gets solved now with the right frequency or if i put my case back on the place it will crash again (my case is now open and out of the desk place because i was testing the sticks and mobo slots). I'll put it back on the place and see what happens.

By the by I am on holiday in New Zealand right now and wifi is hard to get where we go sometimes so be patient.

Thank you for helping me while you're on vacation :D Have a great time there and don't feel like you have to answer me, I can wait until you return home ;)

Hmm mate it should not be that much of a problem as memory is if I am not badly mistaken "back compatible" ie say if you stuck a 1600 in a slot that is 2400 capable the speed will only run at 1600.
On the other hand if you have the RAM slot ocked at 2400 then the 1600 might have a problem;)
