Hello

I was watching some videos on YouTube last week sometime when the computer just shut down and reset itself, I then put the computer in safe mode (what im doing now) and used the program WhoCrashed and it told me this information.

(Note this is the test done for today as the others are not showing.)

Hello and welcome Crimsonmoon now mate first up please follow this
Now before we can help we do need to know what is in your machine so please do this System Info - See Your System Specs
or either enter the specs of your system in your forum profile the specs will appear when we click on that little box bottom left of the post screen it is for me the preferable option as it is easy. As you may appreciate it is very hard when you don’t know what one is working with for example a diesel or petrol engine.
*(pretyped to save time)

Then if possible please follow these

Dump Files - Configure Windows to Create on BSOD
&
Blue Screen of Death (BSOD) Posting Instructions

Until we get the full dump files it is near impossible to advise what to do, but I can say it is almost certainly a hardware problem. Just how old is this machine??

Edit: Now in safe mode can you please run these
SFC /SCANNOW Command - System File Checker
Disk Check < if necessary include the /f switch and if this does not make any improvement then just run this switch instead /r in the command line as per Option2
Run these in safe mode and the sfc often best run for two to three runs – you can leave out the /r switch in ckdsk if you feel it not necessary

Ok mate nicely done with the specs and that 404 is just a network failure to hook up to wherever you have linked for want of a better term. Now I often get this from time to time and the fix is to just try again / reboot your modem / reboot the machine I usually try hat in that order;).

But in any case that bugcheck 124 you mentioned in post #1 is almost certainly be down to a hardware problem as it mentions there and the ntoskrnl.exe bugcheck is very common and means just about nothing to us in pointing out what the issue is.

We shall need to go through the hardware bit by bit to find the components/s that are bad in some way. This is usually started out by testing stuff like the RAM and CPU etc but please try getting those dumps through to us because they may narrow the search down for us.

Now as you also mention a thermal isue can you please run this Speccy - Free Download - Piriform and post back either a screen shot or just type the temps for the CPU and GPU and the board will be shown too but the CPU and GPU are the important ones.
Having said that have you ever overclocked that machine?? and added new hardware recently??

Now for screen shots you could use this
Screenshots and Files - Upload and Post in Seven Forums and if you go to Heres How you will find how to use the snipping tool - something I use all the time and very handy to keep on the taskbar.

Anyway those dumps mate.

Ok mate now get into the BIOS and see what the temps are in there. The fact it will not boot into safemode may be due to the CPU overheating.

Let us know what the temps are.

Ok shut down the computer (normally) and then power up and while doing so tap the DEL button repeatedly (for Gigabyte boards) a useful link for you in the future maybe BIOS Keys by Motherboard (Gigabyte, MSI, ASUS, Etc.)

Now when open you need to get to the correct section of the BIOS and if you have the older legacy type that will be quite easy see pic for an example of what I think your BIOS probably is as from your specs I cannot tell because it only says Gigabyte board - no model.

It might be useful for you to read this How to Monitor CPU Temperature: 11 Steps (with Pictures) - wikiHow

Edit: To get out of each section hit ESC

Ok mate now while the temps are ok I think maybe 40C is a tad more than I would like as you are only running the BIOS it is a smidgen over the 50% of the max for that CPU - 70.5C and I would expect that if you had a few tabs open or watching YouTube for example.

Problem here is now it will not boot into safe mode even so we might need to try some other options.

Now while I know on shouldn't do this normally I would try just shutting down the machine and see if you get the message Window was not shut down properly etc etc it should have a black screen with options on it and I would choose the repair your computer one see this for what you might see (hopefully)
Advanced Boot Options

Post back what happens.

Sorry late reply mate now when you say there was no paste just how did you find that out?? Now before you put more on you should have cleaned the old stuff off first it is really important to do that because any old stuff left behind just might not let the new stuff do what it is supposed to do.
The compound you used just what was it?? We need to know because we do not want you wrecking the machine for the few minutes it takes to do the compound properly.

Hmm ok well I wished I had known that before you did it as I don't know that brand and personally I use only these
Arctic Silver Incorporated - ArctiClean & Arctic Silver Incorporated - Arctic Silver 5

simply because cleaning and surface preparation is all important to me and the compound though reasonably expensive contains an amount of elemental silver which has the greatest thermal co-efficient rating of all the metals.
My own personal method is to clean and prepare the two surfaces and then apply a very thin layer of compound to each surface with a finger inside a vinyl glove. I then put a rice grain sized piece of compound in the centre of the CPU and reapply the cooler device. The compound then "bleeds out" across the surfaces as the CPU heats up. This way I know all of the surface of the CPU is in "contact" with thew cooling device plate.

You will find many have very different ways of doing this but however you do it it is important NOT to apply too much compound that it squeezes out from under the cooling device onto the CPU socket and board.

Anyhow what are the temps now that it has had time to settle in?

Yep well the BIOS can be quite varied from time to time. Now as it will not go into safe mode we have a problem.

Now if you shut the machine down "illegally" and reboot it does it come up with a black screen with white text on it saying Windows was not shut down properly and give you a few options like Start Windows normally??

Plus do you have the installation media ie the Microsoft DVD?? If not then we can get an ISO and make a disk to install/repair Windows from - but is there the black screen as mentioned above?

There are other things to test out but we would really like those dumps files if possible.
