Hey there guys i'm new to the community, but i've been researching solutions here for quite some time. I now am in need of a helping hand. I have recently brought home a friends computer which has been plagued with blue screens & random crashes.

I ran all appropriate tests(i.e memtest86, chkdsk , monitored heat, re-seated ram etc) it almost seemed as a simple re-seat fixed the problem. Wrong, 3 hours later he reports a blue screen. It seems to only happen when underload. He likes to play a lot of LOL and streams HD videos at the same time and maybe even skype will be going as well. I then suggested he buy new ram due to the codes being directly linked to memory issues and well he could afford it. We replaced the ram and yet again the glorious 0000001A Blue screen codes pops and has yet again began haunting him.

I have read some things about possible MMC issues or even just improper drivers causing issues in the memory management process. Any suggestions or ideas would help. I'd like to have this fixed before he gets back from his Xmas break. I have uploaded the minidump and you can find them attached to this post.

Please take a peek and suggest any further actions I can take or point out anything I may be missing. Thanks a lot.

Hazey!

Uninstall Avast using Avast Uninstall Utility. Use Microsoft Security Essentials as your antivirus with windows inbuilt firewall, and free MBAM as the on demand scanner.

Download and install those, and then run full system scans with both of them, one by one.

Let us know the results.

Arc,
I thank you for your time and help. I have followed your instructions and removed Avast
along with installing the two recommended programs. Both of them came back with clean scans with no problems found, however both times I left the room and when I came back the pc seemed to of restart on its own. I haven't had any major blue screens that i've seen and it idled all night while I slept, but I still am unable to run with Verifier.exe on and I still have a couple random freezes.

Since it has made it through the night i'm going to begin a bit of stress testing and running the pc as my friend would during a normal session. After it completes a few hours of that w/o any faults I'm going to re-enable verifier.exe and see how it goes. If you have any other suggestions on how I can test the pc and rest assured the problem is fixed please do inform me.

Edit: I take that back. I have now received two 3B BSOD's in a row. After I posted this response a minute later I fired up a 1080p youtube of planet earth and BAM, BSOD. Any ideas?
Also i'm seeing a lot of this -> The AODDriver4.2 service failed to start due to the following error:
The system cannot find the file specified. in the Event Viewer and this ->The computer has rebooted from a bugcheck. The bugcheck was: 0x0000001e (0x0000000000000000, 0x0000000000000000, 0x0000000000000000, 0x0000000000000000). A dump was saved in: C:\Windows\MEMORY.DMP. Report Id: 122812-15490-01.

Very sorry. Somehow I have missed it :o

A search revealed that you are using nForce as the chipset driver, and that includes nvstor64.sys as the storage controller driver. You need to try to update nForce, as it contains not only the storage controller, but also network controller and a lot of other vital drivers.
Code:
lmvm nvstor64
start             end                 module name
fffff880`01021000 fffff880`01060000   nvstor64 T (no symbols)
    Loaded symbol image file: nvstor64.sys

    Translations:     0000.04b0 0000.04e4 0409.04b0 0409.04e4
Go to Drivers - Download NVIDIA Drivers, search for nForce, as per your motherboard's chipset specifications.

It is also very old. Update it from Realtek

Can you try to update the BIOS too, if possible?
Code:
BiosMajorRelease = 8
BiosMinorRelease = 15
BiosVendor = American Megatrends Inc.
BiosVersion = 5.16
[B][COLOR=Red]BiosReleaseDate = 06/03/2010[/COLOR][/B]
SystemManufacturer = Hewlett-Packard
Let us know the results. And, if the problem persists, upload your MSINFO32.nfo file in your next post, alongwith the further crash dumps.

  1. Click on the start button
  2. Type "msinfo32" (without quotes) in the search bar of the start menu, click the resulting link. It will open the System Information window.
  3. File>Save. In the "File Name" filed, put "MSINFO32" (without Quote), give the save location to desktop, and click the "save" button.
  4. Give the time for processing, it will save a .nfo file on your desktop.
  5. Zip it, and upload it following the instruction.

Thanks for the quick response Arc. I completed updating the recommended drivers. Unfortunately while attempting 2 quick responses to you I have received a 1E and 7F BSOD code. I also tried to update the bios here -> M2N78-LA Motherboard BIOS Update HP Pavilion p6310y Desktop PC | HP® Support to no avail, after installing the driver it seems they have the same exact timestamps.
I have zipped up my last 2 minidmps and the msinfo32 file you requested. I hope all of this will help find the root of the problem. Get back to me ASAP I will be home from work the next two days and my client is driving home from California as we speak >_<.
Also i'm not sure if it means anything but I notice an "important" update in Windows Update that it will not let me install-> Update for Windows 7 for x64-based Systems (KB2505438) It always fails. I just figured i'd supply all possible information.

Scan the system for possible virus infection.

There is a possibility that the crashes are caused by a malware.

Edit: If both of the scans come clear, enable Driver Verifier to monitor the drivers.
Driver Verifier - Enable and Disable
Run Driver Verifier for 24 hours or the occurrence of the next crash, whichever is earlier.

   Information
Why Driver Verifier:
It puts a stress on the drivers, ans so it makes the unstable drivers crash. Hopefully the driver that crashes is recorded in the memory dump.

How Can we know that DV is enabled:
It will make the system bit of slow, laggy.

   Warning
Before enabling DV, make it sure that you have earlier System restore points made in your computer. You can check it easily by using CCleaner looking at Tools > System Restore.

If there is no points, make a System Restore Point manually before enabling DV.

   Tip

Let us know the results, with the subsequent crash dumps, if any.

Both scans came back clear and i've been unsuccessful when using DV. I can't get it to run more than an hour with it on and then non-stop freezing happens not even blue screens. those last two dmps were from blue screens while DV was running. any other suggestions?

Edit: I've been trying to run with DV active for about an hour or so now and I keep getting random hard locks(freezes). The PC doesn't blue screen. Is there any other log I can upload to show what may be causing the freeze? I've also deactivated DV and it still has random hard locks occur. For instance i'm posting this edit while DV is active i've yet to have a blue screen or a freeze. It's been up and running for maybe 5 minutes.

So the pc has been idling for about 30 minutes with no problems, but that's with Driver Verifier off. When I turn verifier on its a continuous stream of hardlocks and freezing. And if I were to fire up a HD youtube i'm sure it would freeze 5 mins into it. Do you think I should do a full system restore or is there anything else I can do?

I have disabled Driver Verifier, and it still is having random hard locks every 30mins or so. Once I start up skype and an HD movie on you tube it seems to lock up within 5 minutes. Although I haven't seen any blue screens recently, only freezing.

Also can you suggest some temperatures that this set-up should be running at. I noticed the cpu got up to 56c last night and shortly after it froze.

Go into your BIOS and Load Defaults, F10 to save and exit. See if that helps any. Many BIOSes use the F5 key for defaults.

You might uninstall PC Doctor, that kind of program can cause problems.

And, HP Help and Tools, too.

Code:
Name [00000007] NVIDIA nForce Networking Controller
Driver    c:\windows\system32\drivers\nvmf6264.sys (7.3.1.7314, 331.78 KB (339,744 bytes), [COLOR=Red][B]7/30/2009[/B][/COLOR] 10:12 AM)
A search revealed that you are using nForce as the chipset driver, and that includes nvmf6264.sys as networking controller driver. You need to try to update nForce, as it contains not only the storage controller, but also storage controller and a lot of other vital drivers.

Go to Drivers - Download NVIDIA Drivers, search for nForce, as per your motherboard's chipset specifications.

So here's a new one. While troubleshooting and uploading things for you guys, I decided to run a few normal tasks as my friend would if he were using the pc since everything seemed ok. During these tests(granted the pc lasts long enough for me to conduct them) I open a youtube and play Planet Earth on 1080p HD and a normal quality anime you tube as well. I open skype and then LoL( league of legends ). While spectating matches on LoL I switch between screens making sure all the videos are all still playing etc.

Well at about an hour and a half into the tests the PC's fans started getting louder and faster and the monitor just went blank as if it went to sleep. However, the PC remained on with the fans blowing loud as can be. I re-booted(held the power button) and attempted to report these events. During the first attempted report the PC then went to a BSOD (code 1E), it did not list a driver and never completed a dump log either. The PC hard locked on the BSOD.
