BSOD.......desperate, please help!

Hi all.

I hope someone can help me, I have been struggling with this problem for 7 months now...

PC Specs:

Intel Core i7 920 2.67GHz (Cooler Master V8 cooler)
6 GB RAM DDR 3 Tripple Channel
Asus P6T Motherboard
870W PSU
Packard Bell Maestro 222Ws 23' LCD (using DVI, also tried HDMI)
1 TB Hard Drive
2 x (HIS) ATI HD5850's Crossfired
ATI Catalyst 10.8
Windows 7 Professional 64Bit
AntiVirus - BitDefender Total Security 2010
PC well ventilated and AC in room.

Problem:

Every time I start up a game, whether it be Just Cause 2, Crysis Warhead, Sonic & Sega All-Stars, Supreme Commander 2 or any other game, I get a BSOD. But instead of showing the blue screen or restarting, my screen displays a "No Signal" message and switches off, while my PC is still on. The only thing I can do is restart my PC manually. This happens sometimes after about 10 minutes of playing or even 30 minutes. And when I can play: smooth framerates at full graphics.

Reinstalled ATI Catalyst (from 9.10 to 10.8) but no luck. Even took out and reinserted the graphics cards. Also tried Regcure. No luck either.

The VIDEO_TDR_TIMEOUT_DETECTED bug check has a value of 0x00000117. This indicates that the display driver failed to respond in a timely fashion.

Could be either start with re-installing video driver. If not that then start looking at video card

When upgrading your graphic driver you MUST remove all traces of the current driver. In order to do that we recommend using http://www.guru3d.com/category/driversweeper/

When it is removed then download and install the fresh copy.

This is not good.......

I've done exactly as you said: Uninstalled drivers and then used Driver Sweeper for the leftovers.
Now when I try to install the 10.8 ATI drivers, everything installs except the display drivers.
Why is this? Have I done something wrong? What can I do?

Hi -

I would suggest that you run Windows System Restore - choose a restore point prior to the ATI removal -
START | type rstrui

The bugcheck was 0x117 = video TDR time out, but factors other than ATI may have caused or assisted in the crash.

This 2007 Asus Cool 'n Quiet mobo utility driver has caused many Windows 7 systems to BSOD - update it -

Yeah I have older drivers, but I tried the newest ones as well, and it still happens.

I have a Corsair TX850W power supply.

I must also note.

No problems occur with Crossfire off.

I have also checked both PCI-Express slots with a single card, and checked both cards individually, and everything runs perfectly.

So the problem seems to center around Crossfire.
What else can you deduce from the files I uploaded?

I can only think of two possibilities, really: a bad bridge, and a power issue. Do you have a different bridge you could try? If not, you might consider purchasing a new one: Newegg.com - HIS CrossFire Bridge Interconnect Cable Model HCFBC4065

If you have a different PSU, you could try that; a replacement CrossFire bridge is cheaper than a new PSU when it comes down to testing, though.
