Hi All,

I'm having a lot of trouble figuring out my BSOD drive_power_state_failure. I appreciate any advice to resolve the matter. I've also attached the required zip drive.

I do not use the power button on my desktop to shut down. This is a home built computer that I've had for about 3 years, no big issues since then except for a bad graphics card.

This is the error message I get after restarting from the BSOD:

Hello Chris now I am going to have a stab at there being a graphics driver issue here because the dumps are not that specific (to me that is) and a few Googles for the ones I do see I feel are pointing towards that.

Now you can try updating the driver Drivers | GeForce < this one is straight from NVidia as the EVGA site as alwsy is so very convoluted as to make using it nigh impossible.

Just a by the by are you OCing that card??

Hi ICIT2LOL,

I appreciate your response and taking a look. Thanks for providing the info to the drivers. I haven't updated my graphics driver in a very long time. I felt my driver was working well "If it ain't broke don't fix it". I'll take a look at the drivers and make an update

I do OC to 4.6 (I think...it's been so long since I did it), which seems to have been stable for a couple of years. I have:
i7-3770K 3.5
EVGA GTX770

I'm a flight simmer and only use the computer for that.

Thanks again and I'll report back.

I posted a message in a flight sim forum that I follow closely to double check a driver for my card. I tried a driver that is a little older than what I have and it seems to have done the trick. I've rebooted a couple of times and haven't seen the BSOD. I'll continue to test but think it's been solved.

ICIT2LOL: Thanks so much for your assistance and pointing me in the right direction! It's greatly appreciated.

No problem mate and just as it is I would have advised you go back a driver version if the latest didn't work - that is usually par for the course.

Happy flying as it is one of my favourites sim things to do but I don't really have that much time to do it and it is hard to find a decent flight sim around now - I like the combat ones rather than commercial stuff.:)
