I have instructed the link state power management thing twice only, including your thread, and you are the first one who responded. So your detailed feedback will be helpful for me.

Hi!

I include the summary of the steps I followed although I'm not sure at which stage the problem was totally fixed.

First, I updated my graphics card driver from Drivers - Download NVIDIA Drivers

This stopped the issue of my laptop getting a BSOD on shutdown entirely, but i still had bsod's while browsing. Also, my laptop was sometimes not recognising my gpu and I was getting the same 2 updates "successfully installed" every time I was shutting down.

I then followed the guide: http://www.sevenforums.com/tutorials/219533-troubleshooting-windows-7-failure-boot.html which found 3 issues on my laptop through malwarebytes but no issues related to the scannow command.

After that, I followed: http://www.sevenforums.com/tutorials/778-power-plan-settings-change.html and at step 5, did Expand PCI Express > Link State Power Management > Settings > Set it to "off" > Apply> OK.

Finally, I went to the following link: Same Updates everyday - KB2656351 and KB2600217 - Microsoft Community and manually uninstalled all .NET fixes. When I restarted I had about 25 updates but once those were through I stopped getting the same updates every time I restarted.

Currently getting no BSODs and GPU seems to always be recognised. Thanks again!
