2 months ago I installed Windows 7 Pro 32 bit over Windows XP Pro on a Dell Optiflex 745. The first install did not install completely. I was getting BSODs and shutdowns and I reinstalled again a few weeks later with a new ISO DVD. The install was clean and I installed all the Windows updates in order of release. I have been continually troubleshooting sudden shutdowns and BSODs ever since. I sought out help on the Microsoft Community Forum and it seems they have given up on me. One problem is my dump files have not been usable.

My Microsoft thread is here:
Random blue screen errors - Microsoft Community

I have updated every driver I can find via Dell and Intel's sites. I ran SlimDrivers and it finds no out of date drivers. There are no conflicts in my Device Manager. I added another 2 GBs of Ram and have done every memory test I know of without error. I've run chkdsk and SFC /scannow countless times with no errors.

I couldn't get some MS updates to install over the weekend. I did an "upgrade" installation and installed all the Windows updates in order again.

The requested DM log file is attached. I have a couple of zipped dump files also. Not sure if they are any good though. Server timed out trying to attach to this thread but links to them on my One Drive are here:

Because of the frequent BSODs referencing USBPORT.sys. I removed my keyboard and mouse and used a wireless keyboard and mouse from another Windows 7 system but still had system crash with Stop 8e. The last thing I have tried today is unplugging an old pair of LabTech speakers. If it stops crashing now, I'll be amazed but will certainly let every one know!

I am at a complete loss. I still don't want to give up because I've worked so hard to try and resolve the issues. Help me "Obi Wan Kenobi. You're my only hope."

I left the system running overnight. I worked for about an hour and the system suddenly shut down and restarted. No BSOD or memory dump file was generated. Don't know if it will shed any more light on the issue but I loaded the bootstat.dat file here:

And a lot of similar ones!!

I am not aware of such bugchecks. never faced those before. Those are not any windows bugcheck.

Something else is causing the issues. Let us try to minimize them one by one.

First ... virus. Scan the system for possible virus infection with the following programs.

If no virus is found, specially TDSSKiller reports no threat, do a Clean Reinstall - Factory OEM Windows 7 which will minimize the chance that any rogue program is causing the issue.

Then give it a time and let us know the situation. Does it BSOD in the same way?

Thanks for your reply. I ran TDSSKiller yesterday and it found nothing. I am still testing with my old speakers unplugged and the system seems to be working a lot better. It only shut down and restarted once today and there have been no BSODs today. Have fingers crossed about the speakers and will report back after I test a couple more days.

Julie
