Solved BSOD during downloading of large files, DRIVER_IRQL_NOT_LESS_OR_EQUAL

Hello,
For a while now, I've been having a recurring BSOD giving the message "DRIVER_IRQL_NOT_LESS_OR_EQUAL". I believe it may be related to something to do with my network settings/drivers, as more recently, I noticed that it occured when I attempted to download game updates that were around 1.5GB in size. I have tried reinstalling networks drivers, but it does not appear to have worked. Any help would be appreciated

You are right, it is some network issue. But apparently no reason behind such a network crash is not visible in any dumps, which is a sound ground.

If you have any network bandwith monitoring/controlling program, uninstall it as a test. Uninstall peerblock too. Letus see if it causes any difference.

Hmm, after uninstalling peerblock, I was able to download the 1.6gb game update, as well as CS:GO with no problems. Never would have thought that it might be causing the problem, since I don't really use it much. Thanks for the help Hopefully this solves the problem. Should I mark this thread as solved?

Well, unfortunately, the bluescreens have returned Not entirely sure what's causing it, but it's still a DRIVER_IRQL_NOT_LESS_OR_EQUAL error message, and the Windows debug tool still says that it might be NETIO.sys that's causing it. I've attached the new minidumps. Sorry to bother you guys with this again

Your network driver is very latest. So it should not fail at its own.

So I am believing that something else is playing a role from the behind.

Enable Driver Verifier for next 24 hours of the next BSOD, whichever is earlier. Let us see if it catches something.

But I will not deny that I am now sort of afraid, because I have noticed such D1+netio issue earlier too; where nothing worked at all. If you want, you may have a look:

Hmm, that first post is worrying Hopefully there's nothing wrong with my motherboard. Although I have also been having problems with windows update, with a lot of failed ones.
So I enabled Driver Verifier, and my computer is not doing well haha. Crashed a few minutes after enabling it, but the problem is, it doesn't seem to reach the blue screen, it just freezes, with the display all screwed up. Unfortunately, it's not generating any minidumps, since I guess it's not actually reaching the blue screen. Any idea on how to get it to generate a minidump?
I do however, have some minidumps from the constant bluescreens last night. Not sure how useful they'll be though.

On the (not so) bright side, I can now crash my computer by just opening steam? Firefox/Skype still work fine though, it seems.

If it crashes with Steam only, do two things one by one.

First, assume that the installation might have gone corrupted. Uninstall Steam and install a fresh copy.

If still the situation is the same, contract Steam and explain them the situation. They should have custom settings or patches for your system.

Definitely there is no adequate reason for the network crashes, but Steam can do it obviously.

Well, uninstalling and reinstalling steam didn't do much to stop the blue screen when the driver verifier was turned on. I was getting some more blue screens earlier though, when I tried to download an update not related to steam. Perhaps the problem is something to do with downloading?
At this point, do you think I should just try a clean reinstall of windows? And if the problem was still there after I reinstalled windows, would that indicate that it's a hardware problem?

If it turns out to be a hardware issue, then the situation would be sad. Because the failing thing is the onboard NIC, a component of the motherboard.

But, a fresh clean reinstall is always a good idea, there is no doubt at all.

Well, I reinstalled Windows, and my computer seems to be doing fairly well. Been running driver verifier, and there hasn't been any blue screens yet, so I'm hopeful I'll keep driver verifier running for a while longer just to make sure that nothing horrible is happening.
