I have been experiencing BSODs since 2013 on my laptop. It rarely happens but when the laptop heats up, it does. Currently, the situation is becoming worse and it always happens during startup. I remember seeing something called 'atikmpag.sys' when BSOD appears. I have tried the googling some fixes but they don't work.

Remove AVG for testing purpose. Replace it with MSE.

Microsoft Security Essentials is recommended from a strict BSOD perspective, compatibility & stability
compared to other antivirus or internet security software. It is free and lightweight:-
   Warning
Do not start the free trial of Malware Bytes; remember to deselect that option when prompted.

After installing the programs, I had to do a restart as instructed. Now I am no longer able to start up normally. The laptop screen also doesn't work. I'm currently using an external monitor. I'm stucked at 'Starting Windows' and the laptop restarts itself after some time. Is it possible to do the things above in safe mode?
