Well I built this computer in september of 2011 everything was running great no problems at all until today. I left it on and went to the store came back and BSOD. My computer restarted before I could write down any information "Error code" system restore said it was a "unknown error" which terminated my system. My Computer is running fine but I would like to make sure nothing is wrong. I'm thinking it may be my mother board because one of the SATA slots is broken and I had to switch to another one.

System specs
Cpu: Core i7 2600k
OS: windows vista home premuim 64 bit
Motherboard: Asrock p67 extreme4
Memory: 4 gb Corsair vengence "will increase to 8+ as well"
Harddrive: 1TB
Graphics card: 8600GT "will upgrade when BSOD is solved"

If you need anymore information I have the app on my phone and should be able to response quickly. The resource and Performance monitor file says I have no Anti-virus program but I do.... Also says the only thing that failed was system service checks - abnormally terminated service check

IRQL_NOT_LESS_OR_EQUAL (a)
An attempt was made to access a pageable (or completely invalid) address at an
interrupt request level (IRQL) that is too high. This is usually
caused by drivers using improper addresses.
If a kernel debugger is available get the stack backtrace.
Arguments:

Arg2: 0000000000000002, IRQL
Arg3: 0000000000000001, bitfield :

bit 3 : value 0 = not an execute operation, 1 = execute operation (only on chips which support this level of status)

Thanks to JMH for helping with my understanding of this crash.
  2. Possible causes are Memory problems... Corrupted hard disk system files... Corrupted System Files... Lack of Windows updates... Antivirus Software... Hardware...

Thanks to Dave76 for help understanding possible causes.

We will start with the common problems first (see bold possible causes). Do the following steps and test after each to see if stability increases (the memory tests you can run concurrently as they will not increase stability unless you are forced to move modules around). Post back your results after each step, and if you get a blue screen crash, upload the files again and await further instructions after we are able to analyze the crash.

Since your problems are not occurring too often, it is up to you whether you want to worry about McAfee, but it is one of the more common antiviruses to cause blue screen crashes.

Well been running the stress test with Prime 95 for a little less than a hour and its on test 6 on all cores. I'll post the results soon and than continue on the next tests. Also I have PC Cillin on the other computer, is that a better Anti virus program than McAfee? If not, what is one of the best anti-virus programs I can get for a roughly the same price?

I personally use the http://www.sevenforums.com/system-s...-system-security-combination.html#post1732627 and have had no problems with it so far. It's a little complicated to set up, but it works well. Superantispyware sometimes gets false positives, but if you report them, the company fixes the problem within a day or two.

I've had problems with just about every paid antivirus company and have a hard time choosing one to recommend. McAfee and Norton cause the most blue screen crashes on here. Pretty much anything other than Microsoft Security Essentials is known to have conflicts on some systems.

Here is three of the tests they all came back ok. Had to stop the CPU stress tests because I had a family emergency and had to leave my home. Didnt want too leave it running unsupervised.

That is fine. Sorry about the family emergency. :( When you are able to run the test, we'll be here to respond; no rush.

SO i figured out the problem... The CPU test came out all clear so that was a relief... Turns out my motherboard and a back door trojan are to blame... Checked my credit card information and turns out someone has resently ordered a new credit card and used my current card number to buy stuff online... As for the board I'm going to have to get asrock to send me replacement motherboard... but firstly I gotta get rid of this virus... Anyone know of any good virus programs that will fix it for good? I ordered Trend micro Titanimin Max already and just waiting for it to get here

Ps should I wipe the harddrive?? Their isnt anything on it thats important... I can get everything back from the CDs

Malwarebytes : Free anti-malware, anti-virus and spyware removal download can be run in Windows to find trojans.

If you do not want to start Windows and keep that Trojan running, there are bootable virus CDs. Free Bootable AntiVirus Rescue CDs Download List
I suggest either bootable f-secure (although it is a little tough to setup the latest definitions) or bootable Bitdefender (this can get the latest definitions online and has a nice interface).
F-Secure Rescue CD
BitDefender Rescue CD

There is also the simplest method via a USB flash drive Microsoft Standalone System Sweeper Beta | Microsoft Connect

They may delete if Windows is not running. That is one of the reasons the rescue CDs were made. :) Also, if you want further advice on security, we have a forum for these types of problems with members who have more experience than I do. You can start a thread in System Security and ask for the expertise in that forum.

That is great news. Glad it was not due to the virus. Those can be a mess to clean up. Thanks for posting back the solution. :)
