BSOD error on HP Laptop

Yeah, i have a HP laptop and it came up with a BSOD, but i wasn't able to get the error it said but after the laptop restarted it came up with this.
Windows has recovered from an unexpected shutdown

Yeah i'm using AVG but instead of using MIcrosoft Security Essentials can i use something else like NOD32

sorry buddy, NOD32 is notorious for causing BSODs too. Please install MSE during this time
