I am pretty sure that is what happened and saw these reports from upgrades but other could still boot somehow or restore to restore point and I couldnt so thats why I disnt relate it.
Can you share your solution please?

So only thing to do is delete C:\Windows\System32\FNTCACHE.DAT

So boot to http://www.sevenforums.com/tutorials/666-advanced-boot-options.html select "repair your computer".
http://www.sevenforums.com/tutorials/668-system-recovery-options.html select "command prompt" as shown in step 6.

Or do http://www.sevenforums.com/tutorials/682-command-prompt-startup.html OPTION ONE.

Now in "command prompt" you can do:

DIR  C:\USERS
DIR D:\USERS
DIR E:\USERS

Assume Q is the drive letter of your win7 partition (check with commands above). Do:

DEL [B][COLOR=red]Q[/COLOR][/B]:\Windows\System32\FNTCACHE.DAT

Replace Q with actual drive letter. Did you successfully delete it, or did an error message popup? Post results.

I wish I could, all the options you posted I have tried with no success. Even with the HD plugged into my machine as slave and trying to boot from my machine; it makes my machine blue screen before I get to anything.

It bue screens my machine as soon as I plug it in via USB on external exlosure and if I boot with that drive plugged in, it gets passed BIOS but in the middle of loading windows, it blue screens, no matter if I try to boot to a command line, safe mode, recovery mode, anything.

So you did delete FONTCACHE file?
You failed to boot to win7 recovery options?

His computer will not boot with the drive attached and will not boot into the DVD drive with that hard drive attached by USB. I am aware of the update, but even with the update, the computer will not boot in any way with that drive attached.

Now I understand!! The stop 50 error has ntfs.sys in the message. It's not related to the august patches at all!! It's corrupt disk. Even attached as external disk it confuses win7 and crashes. Even the win7 recovery environment is corrupt because it some kind of mini windows and located on C volume as well.

Do you have a win7 install dvd or system repair disc? You can create on in minutes http://www.sevenforums.com/tutorials/2083-system-repair-disc-create.html

^^ that won't work either. I think its safe to say this HD is now a paper weight It could be that the patches somehow corrupted the HD, no idea but if I could boot into it or access the drive to try things there might still be a chance but since that is not possible...

Even booting from win7 DVD (with faulty disk attached) crashes the system with stop 50?

Use SeaTools | Seagate to test the disk.

See post #8. It will not boot into the Windows installation DVD, will not boot into Windows Defender offline, will not boot into Hirens and will not boot into Seatools.

So I plugged the HD into another older PC that hasnt been updated on a few months and I can't get to the recovery mode but I am able to log into Safe Mode with the "bad" hd plugged in but now the problem is that I can't access the files on the partition of the OS, see my screen captures...

Now you can run seatools for windows on that disk. The 232.11GB is the partition that has problems?
Read carefully how seatools works. Post results.

the 232.11GB is NOT "Healthy" and windows doesn't show that it's NTFS, doesn't show the label and doesn't show a drive letter. The NTFS partition is very corrupted!! And commands like chkdsk (check disk) don't work without a drive letter.

To inspect and maybe repair the disk:

Can you right lick it and select change drive letter or path, select add and assign it a drive letter? Failing that can you right click it and select explore?

Also, you can try to boot into the installation DVD, continue to where it says where do you want to install windows, select advanced boot options, then select load drivers, you can navigate to that drive, and delete the Windows/System32/FNTCACHE.DAT

How come you still think it's a bad patch? The august bad patches make win7 stop 0x50 but NOT in ntfs.sys! And they don't make the volume corrupt
