hi!
I have beeing using a Compaq Presario V3500 laptop for some time now (2 GB RAM). Recently (around 10 months back), I got its hard disk replaced and upgraded to Windows 7 Basic. I have been using it without problems until about 15-20 days ago, when I started getting the Blue screen of death (BSOD) mostly when watching youtube. I tried disabling hardware acceleration, changed from using Google chrome to IE 9 and the problem still persists. Today I once again got the blue screen when just surfing through google.

I have run the SF Diagnostic tool, and have attached the folder as a zip file (Ratul.zip) with this post. I am completely unfamiliar about these things. Can anyone kindly help me to realise whats the source of the problem and why did it start suddenly ?

Thanks
Ratul

hi!
I have run the Antispyware suggested. It found some tracking cookies that it removed. But nothing more. What should I look for next ? I have been getting BSOD on a regular basis since the last 3 weeks or so. I am attaching the latest dump files zipped.

Hiyya Ratul yes mate I run Kaspersky too on all my machines but those two other scanners will pick up any that KIS misses as it is not foolproof. The SAS will undoubtedly find stuff as perhaps Malwarebytes.

Another you might run is http://www.bleepingcomputer.com/download/adwcleaner/

This is really the strat of the elimination process.

Now I am wondering how you have the KIS configured too are you in default mode or did you set it up yourself.
Also make sure you have the latest version as per my pic.

hi!
I have upgraded my KIS and now it displays 13.0.1.4190 (e) as you had suggested. Can you kindly suggest me what should I look for next ? I have only performed a quick scan using SAS. Should I do a full system scan ?

Regards

Absolutely Ratul and also that Malwarebytes and ADWcleaner after that - make sure they are full scans.

If you haven't got it on board this is a really useful tool too. It will not solve the BSOD but will clear the clutter.

@ICit2lol, I have done a full system scan, first by KIS, then by SAS and then by Anti-malaware. SAS found some cookies and deleted them. But all three reported nothing major. I have also run CCleaner. Now, should I wait and see if I get BSOD again ? I can then upload the dump file.

Ratul

BSOD again - please help

hi!

I have again got a BSOD today. I checked a few other forums, ran CHKDSK etc. and everything seems to be fine. Attaching the dump file.

I get an error KERNEL_DATA_INPAGE_ERROR with BugCheckCode: 0x0000007a, Parameter1: 0xc0415e18, Parameter2: 0xc0000185, Parameter3: 0x08a4d860, Parameter4: 0x82bc3dd9

Any idea what does all this mean ? I read in some forum that I need to run memtest86+. Any idea what it means ?

Regards
Ratul

Ok if we need to do a memtest Ratul then you will need to download the memtest app and make a bootable disk. Download it to Downloads (I keep mine on the desktop) click on open > in the next window right click on it and it should give you the burn to disk option > burn it using whatever the burning app is offered probably a Windows tool in your machine unles you have a burning app from some other source.

Memtest86.com - Memory Diagnostic

The set the BIOS to boot from the optical insert the disk and let it boot and run. Now this takes some considerable time because you need at least 8 passes on the RAM and better still overnight.

Now as you have just 2GB DDR2 RAM it is probably a good idea to put another 2GB stick in to bring it up to the max supported this is going to be better all round anyway. But run the memtest first.

Just would like to know what edition of 7 are you running 32bit or 64bit because the CPU can support 64bit but the chipset is set to a 36bit instruction set - I don't know if this is a mistake and I would have thought it meant 32bit - but I stand to be corrected.

Sorry about the late reply mate it has taken a bit of digging around for specs etc - always a good idea to put in your profile for us to use.
A good app for finding most of what is needed is to run Speccy Speccy - Download < from the piriform site
