BSOD Flash and re-boot cycle; STOP error 0x07E

When I need to restart my computer, for updates or anything, when it begins to boot and the Windows swirly logo appears, it freezes, flashes a BSOD, and reboots offering to run Startup Repair (which never works).

I turned off Automatic Restart temporarily and saw that I'm getting a STOP Error 0x07E, but I have no idea what that means. I believe it has something to do with my drivers but I never know how to tell when they need to be updated.

Please, any advice would be greatly appreciated.

P.S. - My computer runs very hot. I don't have SpeedFan installed anymore, but I know it's always hot.

I'll be up front with the fact that my laptop was stolen from my apartment, and when it was recovered using Computrace, it no longer had the Windows Vista it had before being stolen. Seeing that it now had Windows 7, and I didn't see any adverse effects, I left it.

But that was 3 years ago...

The installed OS is counterfeit - an Acer OEM_SLP Key on an HP computer built in 2007.

You need to reformat and reinstall using legitimate media and Key. HP should be able to provide the media if you didn't create them when you first got the machine.
