Hi,

I’m having trouble with a BSOD and hope that someone can help.

This is a new clean install of Win 7 Home Premium on a HP laptop. The computer seems to work fine most of the time. The problem is whenever I shutdown or reboot, it is not able to shutdown correctly and always results in a BSOD. The computer sits on the “Shutting Down” screen for 10 minutes and then it displays the BSOD.

What I tried so far.

Through MSConfig as admin, I turned off all non-Microsoft services to see if this helped. It made no difference.

There were errors in the device manager that I cleared by downloading latest patches from HP. There are no more errors showing up in device manager.

As admin, I ran “sfc /scannow” and no errors showed up.

Any help that you could give would be greatly appreciated. Thank you!

Hi -

The bugcheck on all 10 mini kernel dumps was the same -

0x9f (0x4,,,) = power transition timed out waiting to synchronize with the Pnp
subsystem. Probable cause listed on each - HP filter driver -
Code:
[FONT=lucida console]hpdskflt.sys Fri Feb 26 11:12:18 2010 (4B87F2E2) - HP[/FONT]

I highly suspect McAfee Safeboot is involved in this. I would remove the product. These drivers need to be updated, or as in Safeboot's case - the app removed -
Code:

Go to your system manufacturer's web site and look for driver updates. If none there, go to device manufacturer's site -

Intel Ethernet --> http://downloadcenter.intel.com/Default.aspx

Synaptics Driver downloads --> Support | Synaptics
