BSOD: In need of help savaging what's left of HD

I recently created a topic about BSOD on my hard drive

I got no assistance beyond the initial response.

Anyway, I just put in my new hard drive because I got tired of waiting. My issue now is recovering files from the old hard drive. I was told to boot up the system and press f12, but when I do that I get a media test failure error, so I can't even load the system to use a usb and get pictures and things of that nature off of the drive. Can someone please help me with this.

You might have to use something like Stellar or R-Studio on that 2nd HD. Because you might only have a few spin-hours, you might consider finding a local source that can walk you through the steps of "sector-by-sector" scan and recovery what can be recovered. I'm feeling there is no easy road at this point, I hope I'm wrong! I'll be listening in with you, hopefully someone will have better solution news.

What's Stella or R Studio? What does that entail?

Both Stellar and R-Studio are very deep, wide, thorough data recovery programs, that I have only just begun to begin to get started learning the first things about each one. They are very good at what they do, according to the many who have successfully used either one or both. And, they are not free. Free trial is very limited.

You should have read the SeaTools tutorial properly - it explains exactly how to create a bootable SeaTools disk.

Since you decided not to proceed with that then, the first thing to do is determine if you can see any of the data files you wish to save off the old disk. Do that by connecting the old drive to your system, and then follow this:

Can I use my Kindle as a external hard drive? I just want to get a couple of things off the old drive for right now. I do plan on getting an external hard drive.

I tried to install Peppermint on a cd+rw disk and boot from it and put the items on a usb. But for some odd reason, it wouldn't boot the actual program only load it to a certain part and go to a black screen.
