Solved BSOD: IRQL Not Less or Equal

Check to see if there's a BIOS download that says it's in a BIOS Recovery format (BIO). My Intel MB BIOS updates always give that as a separate option. I keep a USB drive loaded with the last version for just such mishaps. I had to use it when I mistakenly updated to a wrong version. But I'll never admit to it.

Ken, if I'm not mistaken, he has a bios recovery on his driver CD, plus he should have a renamed bios that he can flash his last bios to if he did it right.

skrillek, look on your USB drive you used to flash the bios and tell me what files you see on it. The names are especially important.

I got a .cap file from the asus website I updated the bios from 1200 or something to 2100

What is the whole file name? Many ASUS boards also have a BIOS renamer utility.

Gary, he should have 2 files. The one he flashed and the renamed one to use for the bios flashback, if he used the renamer utility. That was why I asked for the names. But, he is supposed to have a bios recovery file on the driver CD. It will be an old bios, but it will reflash it. I know you know most of that if not all of it.

I have the old bios update .cap file if that is what you are talking about and p8z77-v lx

I hadn't thought of that Steve because I never used it. I did read about it to recover a bad BIOS flash, I think.

okay i have got my pc to boot again! all i need now is for someone to help me with my bsod hidclass.sys

I can't read dump files, but hidclass.sys is a USB driver. It is usually in your Chipset drivers. It can also be caused by third party programs which have drivers that conflict with it. Hopefully that will be in the dump files if that is the case.

It may also be helpful if you would tell us exactly what you did to get the PC to boot again.

No need, I would just try and see if there are newer chipset drivers other than what you have installed. If they are newer, just install them and see if it solves your problem.

I used 'use last good configuration' XD as simple as that, the thing is I still don't know why oim getting bsod iv updated almost alll of my drivers and windows

haha it was my ram this whole time, my mobo cant take 8gb of corsair

Are you saying 8 GB sticks or 8 GB total? I'm curious. My 3 Asus Z77 boards will take 32 GB (4 8GB sticks). I only use 2 sticks though.

Your board will take 8GB DIMMs.

My system was working fine and i can load up to the loading screen then i got bsod 0x024. I cant boot in safe mode and i dont have the disc to do repairs. I used a different hdd with xp on and it did the same thing with an error code 0x07b. I also switched my ram and i get the same result. I also tried 3 different psu's with no luck so it looks like the mobo?

Last time you said it was your ram. Go into bios and look at your sata controller and see if it is in AHCI mode, which should be by default. But just remember what it is, Look at the ram and see what the timings, frequency and deam voltage is. Set your bios to optimized defaults. set the sata mode to what it is right now, set your ram, frequency, timings and dram voltage to the specs on the side of the ram sticks, set your boot order CD/DVD first boot device and hard drive second boot device. Do nothing else, save and exit and see if that helps. If you still have the same problems

Please download from this site only http://www.memtest.org/ in the middle of the page are the Download links, you can download the ISO.zip or the Auto USB Flash Drive installer.zip

Extract the Zip file. If you chose the ISO image, burn it to a CD using Windows Disk Image Burner or any Image burner you mat have. If you downloaded the Auto USB installer, extract it, insert your USB 2.0 Flash Drive and take note of the drive letter. Run the installer, select the Flash Drive Letter, check the format box and press next. It will install memtest86+ to a flash drive. You can use either V4.20 or V5.01. Boot from your selected media. If you use V5.01 it will tell you to press certain buttons at the start, please press no buttons. The test will begin on it's own and continue to run until you stop it. It needs to run for 8 complete passes or until you receive an error. If you receive an error, stop the test. Even 1 error is a fail. Each pass tests a different part of the ram and each of the 10 tests in each pass tests something different. It takes a minimum of 8 passes to completely test the ram, more passes are better. It is quite a long test and will take several hours depending on how much ram you have. Due to the time length it is best to run overnight. If you have any questions, please do not hesitate to ask​
