BSOD - + lots of app crashes - 6 months of crashes...

Dariusz, I will point out that getting different error codes and different causes is indicative of a Ram problem. That is a typical symptom. I know you have replaced the ram but let me explain how this works, in my experience. The majority of times, when Ram throws an error, the computer will most likely freeze up or BSOD. Whatever driver or program most in use at that moment will get the blame. So, you end up with different error codes, drivers or programs. As a process of analyzing BSODs, ram problems are the worst problem you can have because it makes a determination almost impossible for the reasons described above. A storage related problem may give different error codes and causes, but they will mostly show up as storage related. The same with graphics cards. It may blame drivers, the card or the game/process you are using, but they usually lead back to graphics related. Not so with ram. Just something to keep in mind, even though I know it has been replaced.

Just as a test, try using any live distro of Linux. Use it as long as possible and try out anything you want. That takes the pograms, drivers and OS out of the equation. The Linux Distro all runs out of ram. Just do not install it. If you have a crash with that your are pretty certain you have a hardware problem.

As far as the ISO file. The only legitimate downloads are from Microsoft. A while ago there were sites that had links to Windows downloads, but the legitimate ones were still always from Microsoft servers or Microsoft's Distributor, Digital River. There have been no legitimate Microsoft downloads in probably over a year except for the one you cited, from Microsoft Download links..

Hey

Very interesting regarding ram damage and errors! Thanks!

I have tried 2 ram sets, and third one is waiting to be either sold or put in to pc as its still boxed.

I tried 2 motherboards, 1x Asus X 99 WS - E, 1x ASus X 99 WS - E USB/3.1

Right so update...

As the renders worked 100% fine and there was no problem I decided to push more in to windows. Installed wacom drivers for cintiq and PS.

Started up render, started up PS. Started retouching and within 10-20 minutes the render was stuck at 6% cpu (1 core) and apphang- crashed !

Sad time. So I uninstalled USB drivers.

Restarted PC.

Again start render, start PS. This time I did 3 renders 2h-3h each. Did avarege amount of retouching but it all worked fine ! So far well short test but it worked.

So what I did next is.

Unplug the windows SSD.

Plug M.2 back to motherboard and plug in back my original PSU - should have only plugged in M.2 really but ehhh.... anyway !

Start up system with 1 disk. I decided to format it up. So I used my original dvd from MS with windows. Plug it in and started installation process. As installing on this M.2 is bit tricky and windows refused to format/install on it I tried few times Disk Part to format and get windows to install. They mostly failed so after 10x of restarts and tries I went to bios set it up to IDE, etc etc and restarted system.

Windows from dvd started loading ( the white bar ) and then logo appeared, and then on logo BUM CRASH. Logo froozen !!!

ARrrr wrrrw grrrr....

ANyway, restart.

Windows then installed fine.

Started up, installed Lan drivers, restart, BOOOM Logo loading screen crash ! ARRR wrrr grrrrhrrrrfdsfgvedrswfgewar.

So next restart, this time it boot up. But for a 2.2gb read/1,5gb write disk it took 1 min of logo loading time to load windows! Crazy so It loads up and I got this >

Problem Event Name: APPCRASH
Application Name: Dwm.exe
Application Version: 6.1.7600.16385
Application Timestamp: 4a5bc541
Fault Module Name: nvwgf2umx.dll

So I think Disk is damaged, but dont know how, and if its PSU. Next I will install Windows updates, my 2 basic test programs and run test again.

Will also change back to SSD and disable M.2. I want to test PSU if the SSD will be stable with PSU... maybe its HDD fault and USB drivers ehhh such a never ending puzzle! :- )

Regards

Dariusz

This is a difficult bugger, isn't it? I would be pulling my hair out. I know it would be a pain, but maybe pull the CPU and see if there is a bent CPU Socket pin or try the Live Linux.

I really think you need to run memtest86+. But, you have 48 GB of ram listed, which is an odd number. If you have a 32 GB kit and 2 extra sticks, remove the extra 2 sticks and run it with 1 kit of ram. It Has to be run for 8 complete passes all at one time. Here's how. Please do it this way if you would. The test will run fine, it just won't read the ram specs right. Unfortunately, 32 GB will take about 40 hours to run, but that's the only way to do it.

Please Run Memtest86+

picture.php

   Information
Please download from this site only http://www.memtest.org/ in the middle of the page are the Download links, you can download the ISO.zip or the Auto USB Flash Drive installer.zip

Extract the Zip file. If you chose the ISO image, burn it to a CD using Windows Disk Image Burner or any Image burner you may have. If you downloaded the Auto USB installer, extract it, insert your USB 2.0 Flash Drive and take note of the drive letter. Run the installer, select the Flash Drive Letter, check the format box and press next. It will install memtest86+ to a flash drive. You can use either V4.20 or V5.01. Boot from your selected media. If you use V5.01 it will tell you to press certain buttons at the start, please press no buttons. The test will begin on it's own and continue to run until you stop it. It needs to run for 8 complete passes or until you receive an error. If you receive an error, stop the test. Even 1 error is a fail. Each pass tests a different part of the ram and each of the 10 tests in each pass tests something different. It takes a minimum of 8 passes to completely test the ram, more passes are better. It is quite a long test and will take several hours depending on how much ram you have. Due to the time length it is best to run overnight. If you have any questions, please do not hesitate to ask

Hey

Yeah its tricky... taking now more than 6 months to diagnose heh :- )

So 1st

Pins, well 2 motherboard 2 cpus, yeah I'll look at pins but later on :- ))

Ram wise it was like this :

64 gb original ram, tested by me and 2 shops using memtest from (at least when I tested it ) dos, USB. No errors.

8 gb brand new ram that I bought - will test it later as it should be more or less fast...

now I rma my original 64 gb ram, I got 32 gb back, and 32 gb they lost (hahahha lol! ) so I'm waiting for second box to reach me...

I dont think that brand new ram is damaged and that 3 ram sets in a row are damaged :- ))

Linux test not sure how much would it tell me... as I need my apps to run, use, test.

It feels that the pc will pass any test. But the second user input is introduced it gets issues and errors...

Will try it tho but maybe in 2-3 days. Atm I am testing M.2 and SSD windows based system and testing PSU's.

Will let you know as soon as I have some news...

Running now HDDScan 3.1 test, do you know maybe any good HDD test softwares?

Regards

Dariusz

P.S Does the crash I pasted above tell you anything? is there a file I Can send you from it ?

It only tells me the Desktop Windows Manager is blamed (DWM) and that it is the .dll for DWM specifically. I don't remember you giving me the results of the sfc scan from post #15. That should tell if there is any corruption or missing/damaged system files.
