My first post! I keep getting BSODs with various error codes. I downloaded and used Blue Screen View. It seems all (with 1 exception) of the .dmp files have the the crash address of NTOSKRNL.exe+748C0. I keep researching and they results say there's a bad driver in the system. I ran Verifier and it found a problem with Avast Anti-virus. I deleted it and all register entries for Avast; I'm now using Bitdefender. Ran Verifier on it and there were no problems.

Help!
Thanks!

There are various different BSODs including stop 0x51. So there is a chance of an infection there. Do two things.

Scan the system for possible virus infection with the following programs.

Stress test the Graphics Card using Furmark.Take a screenshot of the furmark window before closing it. Upload the screenshot for us. Also let us know if you have experienced any crash/BSOD and/or artifacts during the test.

Let us know the result. A camera snap of the memtest86+ window before closing the program will be nice.

Also upload your MSINFO32.nfo file.

  1. Click on the start button
  2. Type "msinfo32" (without quotes) in the search bar of the start menu, click the resulting link. It will open the System Information window.
  3. File>Save. In the "File Name" filed, put "MSINFO32" (without Quote), give the save location to desktop, and click the "save" button.
  4. Give the time for processing, it will save a .nfo file on your desktop.
  5. Zip it, and upload it following the instruction.
How to Create a System Information File in Windows.

Update

I've run the tests that you've suggested.

I ran:
- TDSSKiller twice - both no issues
- Memtestx86 overnight - no issues
- Window Defender Offline - no issues
- FurMark - no issues
- Kaspersky Security Scan - no issues

I've attached pix.

The computer would not start last night:cry:. It'd go through the BIOS start and then all I had was a blank screen and a blinking tab. Reverted to my Repair Disk. Checked the Start files and it did a repair.

All seems well now, as I've rebooted a few times.

Any ideas?

Many thanks,
Mark

Remove the Crucial RAM that is there is slot 0. Using RAMs from different brands is not a good idea.

Actually, I ran memtest95+. It ran overnight, but found nothing.

Here's something weird: I downloaded the latest mb BIOS. Tried to install 2x, and both times I got the attached bsod.

I've downloaded several drivers and deleted others:
VIA Tech - usb3 card - deleted
REALTEK - nic - downloaded and loaded Cupid HW Monitor - deleted, new version loaded

ARGH!

This is not the RAM failing, it's the DIMM slots failing. Replace your motherboard.

I'm begining to think youre correct. I swapped out the C: drive with another drive. The second drive is a clone of C: drive; the cloning was done months before these issues started. I got the BSOD. So I've removed DIMM #4 and have swapped back to the current C: drive. Whem'if it fails I'll closely inspect the mb for issues.

I thank you and all folks who are helping. I have a feeling the issue is heat-related as the computer will run fine for 10 hours or so after being shut off for several hours. Also, I'm running a Scythe cooler on the processor. It partially overhangs the memory (see attached) and may impede cooling of the DIMMs. I pulled DIMM #4, the easiest DIMM to reach. Btw, I'm running BOINC (Berkeley Open Infrastructure for Network Computing), doing cancer research. This runs (when it runs!) at full bore - 100% on all 4 cores. I also have a 92mm side exhaust fan; it's set up to run at max rpms. Same for the bottom rear fan. CPU temps remain below 45* C., while Northbridge temps stay below 50* C.

Update: I run "CCleaner" on a daily basis. In the last few weeks it seems to run verrrrry slooooooowly. I suspended BOINC to run CCleaner. It took over 20 seconds to compete its run, and only deleted 17MB of trash. Memory issue? Why no alert? ARGH!

It's not the HDD as I temporarily installed another system disk that I mirrored to before the BSODs showed up. It ran for hours and then BSOD'd with the same thing. Also, after each BSOD I've run as admin SFC. Never an issue.

I've attached a screenshot of the Cupid HW Monitor (and more).

Thanks,
Mark

I think my mb has builtin vid. I saw it run a lot hotter during the Ferman test. I think it's ok.

So far so good with DIMM 4 empty.

You're welcome on the research. I built a very high performance single core box around an AMD Athlon FX57 for cancer research hosted at Oxford University. My dad died of lung cancer in 2002. A friend (super smart), with whom I went to grade school and high school received his phd in bio/chem from Oxford, was athe wake and funeral. He works are the National Cancer Institute.. His adviser at oxford was Dr. Graham Richards, one of the pioneers in using computers to perform chemical research. Dr. Richards' theory was that cancer generates and needs one of 12 proteins. If we can interfere with those proteins we can stop cancer. I ran that program for 4 years on my home and my work computers.

Wow, interesting. Sorry about your dad though. May he rest in peace.
Well of course it should run hotter in Furmark as it's a stress test on the GPU. Still the GPU is pretty hot for being idle. But so far so good, hope there won't be anymore crashes.

Thank you for your sentiments about my father. he led a very full life.

I used the links you provided. What mode should the SATA drives be in: AHCI or ATA?

Returned it to RAID. Didn't work in ACHI.
