Hi guys,

As the title says, BSOD this morning on start-up. Was able to restart and boot up normally - this is the error.

The computer has rebooted from a bugcheck. The bugcheck was: 0x0000007e (0xffffffffc0000005, 0xfffff88005fe693f, 0xfffff88003969188, 0xfffff880039689e0).

Otherwise, I have had no issues at all with this system - this has only happened once. Don't think I have made any changes recently, so the blue screen came as a bit of a surprise.

Thanks

Hi.

Please uninstall Avast using Avast Uninstall Utility. At least as a test. Use Microsoft Security Essentials as your antivirus with windows inbuilt firewall, and free MBAM as the on demand scanner.

Download, install and update those, and then run full system scans with both of them, one by one.

Let us know the result.

Hi Arc,

Thanks for taking a look at this. Interesting to see that Avast is the culprit. I had previously been running MSE (at this forums recommendation) on previous PC's and whilst I enjoyed how well it ran in the background, I have been concerned about how comprehensive it was. I have been running MBAM for a while now.

Anyway, I have uninstalled Avast and done a full system scan with both - nothing to report.

As I said, this BSOD has only happened the once and I have had no other problems that aside. Will sit tight and update you if anything happens.

Nice. Let us know for ay further issue.

Avast is a real good antivirus, but sometimes it contributes to BSODs, it is not very rare.
