Hi

This is a little bit of an annoying issue. and is happening more often. there are three different times that I have experienced this.

1. When I have been working (Dreamweaver, Photoshop) and had to leave the machine for any length of time I come back to a restarted computer, Followed by the customary the system has recovered.

2. When listening to Spotify at first all is fine and I listen for between 30mins to 1hr an then get a BSOD. if I restart and run Spotify again it only lasts about 10-15mins.

3. When watching a DVD, AVI/divx/mpeg or streamed video I can watch anywhere between 20mins and 4hrs but will then get a BSOD.

I reviewed the event log and there seemed to be a possible issue with the sleep/hibernate so switched of the function but that doesn't seem to help.

I have attached the files and the following is info about my machine.

Details:

An Asus K501N series
Duo T6600 cpu
Win7 x64 Premium
- It is the original installed OS on the system
- An OEM
- The laptop is 4mths old as is the OS.

Any help would be great.

Hello ! Welcome to SF !

Seems like you have sptd.sys that belongs to DAEMON Tools Lite which is well know for problem. Please uninstall it completely, Update the Webcam device driver and if your not using it then uninstall the Drivers and disconnect the device from the System.

Drivers to be Updated

Code:
sncduvc.SYS Mon Dec 29 14:44:26 2008
ASMMAP64.sys Mon Feb 05 01:22:56 2007

Then go to Start under search type in Device Manager and find Teredo Tunneling Pseudo-Interface > Update Driver Software... > Browse my computer for driver software > Let me pick from a list of device drivers on my computer.

Hope this helps,
Captain

Hi

I have included some extra info below as this seems to be a rather large issue especially amongst Asus laptops.

I have uninstalled Deamon tools

updated sncduvc.SYS from the asus website here.
updated ASMMAP64.sys from asus (going to downloads tab, choosing Windows 7 64 bit and then going to ATK section) at this address.ASUSTeK Computer Inc.-Support-
]#

When i tried to update the driver for the Teredo Tunneling Pseudo-Interface it updated but told me there was an error but i was able to solve with this:

"if you can't seem to update your driver and have ZoneAlarm Security Suite,
you may want to check whether the Enable IPv6 box in Firewall | Main | Advanced is ticked or not
(the last box in the dialog) - if not, tick it and update the driver from the Device Manager."

Which seems to have done the trick.

Thanks very much for your help.

Very good information in your report back. Thanks.

I also want to tell you that ZA is notorious for causing crashes on some Win 7 systems. If you have further BSOD's, upload them to us and completely uninstall ZA.
