BSOD on W7 x64

:cry::cry::cry::cry:

Not working... I got new types of BSOD : System Service Exception and IRQL not less or equal.
On top of that, Aero often crash, and today the Video card was not recognize. I had to reinstall the video driver to make it work again. I also got a BIOS error yesterday, saying that the Bios couldn't handle the DRAM overclocking. (The famous XMP in the BIOS). So I reset it to Auto, that is to say 1333mhz and 1.5v (the DDR3 is a 1600mhz at 1.6v in normal time. It is set like that with the XMP).

I am starting to think about a motherboard problem... I mean, I got HDD errors, DRAM erros, CPU errors, Video errors...

I have found on internet that there are a lot of problems with this motherboard (P7P55D) and the Gskill memmory. They say to simple set manual values or use the XMP, but it don't always seem to solve the problem. :(

Do you have any ideas ?

Il will try another Memetest with the XMP (1600mhz/1.6v) this night.

Y have run a Memtest again during 19h (with the XMP, ie 1600mhz/1.6v DRAM). Nothing wrong.
Just one thing : memtest detect the CPU as a Core I5 and it is a Core I7, but even the BIOS say it is a core I7, so I think it is due to the fact that the Memtest is more than 6 month year old.

I have attached my system nfo to this post. Please tell me when I can remove it, because it may contain personnal informations and I don't want to let it on the net. ;)

I really thank you for your help on my problem :)

The system info file isn't readable as an .nfo file, but you can get stuff out of it by changing it to a .txt file.
I'd suggest trying the following things to see if you can get it readable as an .nfo (I have eye problems and can't extract the info I need from a .txt file) I've encountered this problem before - and it also was (as I recall) with a French version of Win7

MSINFO32 Difficulties

If you're having difficulties with the format, please open an elevated (Run as administrator) Command Prompt and type "msinfo32 /nfo C:\Users\Public\Desktop\TEST.NFO\" (without the quotes) and press Enter. Then navigate to the C:\Users\Public\Desktop directory to retrieve the TEST.NFO file. If you have difficulties with making this work, please post back.

Elevated Command Prompt
Go to Start and type in "cmd.exe" (without the quotes)
At the top of the Search Box, right click on Cmd.exe and select "Run as administrator"

Hi :)

I have tested something : Unpluged 2 HHD on 3, and the PCI Sound Card, and then reinstalling the OS.
Something fun, when using only one HDD (not the one used at the beginning to install the OS), the are no more noises!
I mean, before there was some "tic toc" noises form the PC, but now it is the absolut silence. On top of that, the system seems far more stable than before (for example, the Anvirius accept to update without errors, which was not the fact before even when reinstalling the OS).

I will test this new configuration during one week to see if it works. If yes, then you were true, it is probably the first HDD that is broken. (I don't think that it is the Sound PCI card :) )

Anyway, I succeded to generate the NFO file, but without the "\" at the end :
msinfo32 /nfo C:\TEST.NFO

I have attached the NFO file. ;)

Is it OK like that ?

Nope, same issue again. I wonder if it's a bug in the French version? I routinely get .nfo files from other languages without the issues that the French one's have (but there's only been 2 so far). Let's forget about it for now.

Tic-toc noises from the hard drive are reason enough to doubt the hard drive.
Dead/dying hard drives can cause all sorts of troubles with the system.

Good luck!

Thanks :D

Unfortunately, French version of mutlimedia things (Softwares, Films, Video Games, etc) are often very bad. Bad translation, bad compatibility, etc... I prefer using English versions of softs and watching english films, but finding an English OS here is pretty hard :(
And I used the Microsoft prelaunch offer (49€ for W7), so impossible to find an english version.
In fact, french people are not very good with others languages, so everything is in french ;)

No other crash so far. Hope this will work

I've found that the French have a better handle on English than most Americans have an understanding of French. For myself, I failed French in school and can't recall much of that.

During my time overseas (in the US Army) I found that if I try to speak the local language (no matter how horribly), the people that I'm talking to will do their best to use the English that they've learned.

Good luck!

Well, we learn English because it is an obligation to have a decent job here. But most of French learn English by themself, and not at school :)

Concerning the computer, I still have problems, but it seems I have found the issue :
the ram is defective at some start.
Let me explain : I start the computer, I run a memtest : everything is good. I cut it off, I restart and redo a memtest : bad memory
I unplug 2 bars on 4, no problems. I change the 2 ram bars with the others, no problems. It seems that the memory is deffective only at some start, not always at cold start. Because the default always appear between 6gb and 8gb, that explain why the 32 bits systems work perfectly.

I think this is due to the motherboard, so I will contact the manufacturer.

I keep you in touch ;)

PS : "There are very few problems in life that can't be fixed by the proper application of high explosives" Excellent >_<

Hi :D

Happy new year !

Some news : after discutting with the manufacturer, it seems that the problem is caused by the motherboard. The computer is going to be return to the sailor, so I think we can say that the problem is solved. (I hope so :))

I would like to thank you for your kind help ;)
You helped me a lot, and I really appreciate :)

I wish you good luck for this new year and the futur, and I thank you an other time.

May the force be with you

With my best regards

Moomba

It's good to hear that you will get a replacement.
Troubleshooting motherboard problems is very difficult.

I spent 6 months troubleshooting a computer for an older gentleman at work.
He'd bring his system in several times a week!
I finally got fed up with it and told him that I'd send it out for repair (to the service center).
I sent a detailed history with it and the service center finally replaced the motherboard.

Well, most of the time, when I got erros with memtest even when replacing RAM memory, I think about the motherboard or the CPU, but this story of cold start with this PC, I never had. ^^ An other time, thanks a lot for your help ;)

would you be able to tell if your problem has been resolved?
i had ordered 3 computers with the same spec as mine (should be in my profile, but is quite the same as yours), but 2 of thelm aren't working properly.

Did your problems go away with the replacement of the mobo? Or did you take a different brand?

greetings (and hoping on a response)...
