BSOD - page_fault_in_nonpaged_area (after installing Age Of Empires 2)

Hi,
I seem to have encountered a problem after installing an old copy of Age of Empires 2. I now see a BSOD when running certain programs. The two different programs it has happened for are:

Firefox - after typing in a URL, the BSOD appears
VLC - When opening a file (only some - others work perfectly)

I have uninstalled Age of Empires 2 and attempted to run a system restore but there were no previous restore points.

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks in advance,
COG

It appears that the zip file you uploaded does not contain anything but your event logs, please rerun the SF diagnostic tool and be sure to press the grab all button then wait (around ten minutes should do it) then zip and upload the file here please.

Sorry for the double post but I started looking through your log files while waiting, and I noticed your system eventlog was all the same thing repeated around 12 thousand times:

Code:

So please on top of what I have already asked do the following:

Run the system file checker:

SFC.EXE /SCANNOW
Go to Start and type in "cmd.exe" (without the quotes)
At the top of the search box, right click on the cmd.exe and select "Run as adminstrator"
In the black window that opens, type "SFC.EXE /SCANNOW" (without the quotes) and press Enter.
Let the program run and post back what it says when it's done.

Then from the same command prompt run:

Code:
chkdsk /f /r

I configured it to create a kernel dump and ran the SF Diag tool and attached the files too.

Sorry, re-ran SFC.EXE /SCANNOW and did the second command upon completition:

The type of the file system is NTFS.
Cannot lock current drive.

Chkdsk cannot run because the volume is in use by another process - Would you like to schedule this volume to be checked the next time the system restarts (Y/N)

I have left cmd running.

Thanks

OK a couple of things, your dump file doesn't point to anyone thing in particular, so I am going to have you do a couple of things:

First please use memtest86+ to check for any problems with your ram let it run for 7-9 passes:

RAM - Test with Memtest86+

Tip: Do this over night it could take quite some time

Next test your video cards memory with this:

Repair Tool of the Week: Video Memory Stress Test - Technibble

again let it run for 7-9 passes, though this should be much faster and will not take nearly as long.

For testing purposes please uninstall Avast! using the Avast! Removal Tool and replace it with Microsoft Security Essentials this antivirus is very light weight and works well in conjunction with Malware Bytes which you already have installed.

please update your BIOS it is rather old:

Code:
BIOS Version: Dell Inc. A21, [COLOR=Red]07/12/2011[/COLOR]

BIOS Updates are available on the system manufacturers website.

Uninstall Daemon tools it uses a driver that is known to cause BSODs, then download and run this tool:

DuplexSecure - Downloads

When you run the tool if the uninstall button is greyed out you are done and can close the window, if not click it and let the tool do its job. DO NOT click the install button it will instal la driver known to cause BSODs.

I have uninstalled avast and installed MS security essentials.
I have uninstalled daemon tools and the program had a greyed out uninstalled button.

For the bios, is this okay: Driver Details | Dell US
And then I put it on a CD and tell the computer to boot up from that CD, right?

I am currently running the Video memory stress test although it says it will take 2 and a half hours next to "pass remaining:". The pass count is currently at 0 but when it reaches 7-9, i'll post the results.

I'll run memtest tonight overnight.

Thanks
