BSOD page_fault_in_nonpaged_area Win7 and Win8

I wouldn't say that Driver Verifier is the issue, have you now turned off Driver Verifier?

Have the BSOD dump files been removed due to the restores you had to carry out?

Yes it's off. Dump files will have been lost, yes.

Still can't use my graphics card at all! Wtf?

Run the stress test to see if there are any problems with your graphics card.

I've also requested some additional help.

Run the stress test to see if there are any problems with your graphics card.

I can't use the graphics card at all. Plugging the DVI cable into it gives me no signal. Then I boot in using onboard graphics and can use the pc fine. It won't event detect the graphics card is there via device manager.

How has driver verifier managed to do this?

Is the stress test program able to detect the graphics card?

I'm not sure, I've requested for some additional help; I have never seen Driver Verifier stop the graphics card from working, it is the best program to use to gather further information about conflicting drivers etc.

Right, I enabled Device Manager to show devices not currently present. Went to View >> Hidden Devices and was able to see my 460GTX. I uninstalled it, restarted and it worked! Then I just re-installed the Nvidia drivers and everything seems peachy.

I don't dare turn Driver Verifier back on. But on the plus, Daemon Tools isn't installed because I rolled back to before I installed it! Will keep an eye out for any BSOD's in the future and post them up. Thanks for your help so far BlueRobot, appreciate it!

Even though you used a system restore, there is a chance the driver is still present, I would run the sptd installer/uninstaller to uninstall just in case.

Try updating your Video Card Drivers from the Official Nvidia Site

Nvidia.com

They are up-to-date with the latest driver (306.97) and have been since October.

What I ment to put in was to redownload them, uninstall your drivers, and then use the freshly installed ones to use, the download you had might have been corrupted, as happens sometimes.

If that doesn't fix it, you can try the Beta Drivers, they fix a few issues the latest stable caused.

That is what I did when I couldn't get my 460GTX working. Uninstalled drivers, rebooted, re-installed them. I had been using 306.97 since they came out and I don't think this BSOD is directly related to them as I was getting the PAGE_FAULT_IN_NONPAGED_AREA for a considerable time prior to this.

So, as a re-cap:

1) Checked memory with MemTest86+ - no errors.
2) Uninstalled Daemon Tools Lite (a note on this - I got one PAGE_FAULT_IN_NONPAGED_AREA BSOD directly after freshly installing Windows 8, before Daemon Tools was even installed).
3) Tried to enable Driver Verifier, which resulted in 2 BSOD's which popped up too quick for me to see the error message, and then caused my graphics card to go missing from Device Manager and unusable. Don't have dump files for these because I had to recover Windows and roll back.

Any other avenues I could explore?

Appreciate all the help to date - thanks guys! :geek: :D

Did you run the uninstaller for sptd?

It can be found here, run the installer and choose the uninstall option. Daemon-Tools does not remove this driver file and it is notorious for causing BsoD in both Windows 7 and Windows 8. If you did an upgrade to Windows 8, that driver would still be there, removing it might solve your issue.

No, I did not. I don't know enough about what this is - why exactly is it needed? Is it safe to install? I just download via that link, run and select 'Uninstall' and that should be it?

Your not installing it, when you run the installer it will have an option to uninstall, that is what you want. The Daemon-Tools uninstaller doesn't remove that file, which by the way is the one that causes the BsoD with a lot computers.

So to answer your question, download the version for your version of windows 32 or 64 bit, and run it, choosing the uninstall option. When it is done reboot your computer and do whatever you were doing before to cause the BsoD, to see if this fixed the problem.

I used to have an HP DV6-2057cl that would BsoD, and come to find out sptd.sys was causing my issue, I did the steps I just gave you and it fixed the issue.

I then only have an Install button, Uninstall is greyed out.

Daemon Tools has been uninstalled via Programs >> Uninstall a program.

Any other suggestions?
