I used to crash to bsod every once in a while when watching youtube videos and installing the new windows updates seemed to fix the issue for a while. Havent crashed in a while until just yesterday. I was playing Metro last light with a new 360 controller i purchased (i also have a new corsair m65 i just got) and I got BSOD. Restarted the pc and got bsod while it was booting windows. Had to restart it about 4 times to get back to my desktop and i decided to just watch videos and go to sleep. The next day i tried playing arkham city with the controller and it crashed about 15 mins in to blue screen. Then just like last time it crashed at windows boot up about 3 times, then crashed 3 more times on the desktop and finally booted up and is stable right now so I figured i better make a post while i can. Ive added a zip of the minidump files and the dm log collector files. Specs: Intel core 2 extreme cpu x9650, 8gb ram, NVIDIA geforce gtx 465, windows 7 64 bit. If you need any more information let me know. I appologize if i messed something up this is my first post. Any help is appreciated

Hi pjustin57, welcome to 7F! :)

Unfortunately your OEM bios shows that the version being used was installed 6 months before Windows 7 was released.

You will have to obtain, install and validate a copy of 7 before we can help you further.

There are ways, IF you have a valid Product Key and COA: http://www.sevenforums.com/tutorials/1649-clean-install-windows-7-a.html

The balls in your court, what would you like to do?

It would help to have more information on the machine. This is a little sparse to do any technical research
Specs:
Intel core 2 extreme cpu x9650,
8gb ram,
NVIDIA geforce gtx 465,
windows 7 64 bit.

The easiest way is to populate the SF system spec on your login. Follow the guide, download the utility, collect the info and let the utility fill in your specs.

Please add your SF Systems Specs by following this tutorial: http://www.sevenforums.com/tutorials/180324-system-info-see-your-system-specs.html
  • In the System Manufacturer/Model Number field, manually type Desktop or Laptop adding it to the information already in the field.

  • Specify Custom Build as the manufacturer if it is not an OEM machine.

  • The tool does not fill in this information but it is very important if someone has to research drivers or hardware for your machine.
Log on to Sevenforums (SF) and let the tool fill in you System specs on your SF profile.

Full instructions are in the tutorial. It's a simple process and it makes that information readily available on your posts. You don't have to retype the information in any thread.

Click here to view your system specs on SevenForums.

Click on My System Specs in the lower left of any post by any member to see what is presented about their machine.

Please also follow this tutorial to provide the current operating environment of your machine.

There's actually no problem with the MGADiag report - it's showing as a retail (probably upgrade?) version, where the BIOS date shown in MGADiag is irrelevant.

Also filled in my spec sheet. Let me know if there's missing info. And thank you all for the help so far

Did you need the SF diagnostic to be run? I'm in mobile right now. I can do that in a hour or two

Thanks for filling in your specs.

There is more information needed to begin trying to resolve the BSOD.
Both of these tools provide much of the same information, some members find one or the other report easier to use.

SFC: It wouldn't hurt, here's a tut for that:

All things being equal that xbox controller could be the problem. Do you have another to test, maybe borrow one?
This xbox driver has a version of 6.2.29.0 can't find your version but hold off installing it, lets see if having the controller disconnected helps. I imagine your pretty rough with it? And thats okay, it happens when gaming, it might just be wore out.

I've looked through SFDiag (SFD) report and the .dmps indicate Driver problems. Two that I thought interesting were lsass.exe and MeTroLL. exe The former deals with security and security related policies that a SFC /scannow may fix and your hosts file does look okay, the latter is a game that you may want to uninstall for testing.
The other twelve I believe are artifacts after metroll crashed.

Do you have Steam, Bonjour installed? The former isn't as bad as the latter and we usually ask members to uninstall them for testing, especially the latter.

There are two problem devices;

  • Teredo Tunneling Pseudo-Interface ROOT\*TEREDO\0000 This device cannot start. | This you'll have to go an check Device Manager to see if you have any :warn: alerts beside any of your hardware devices check at Control Panel\All Control Panel Items\Device Manager. A SFC scan may help this also.

  • Run malware scans so we don't have to worry about that. If you don't have Mbam or SAS use yours but tell me what you used, another good one to try is AdwCleaner Download

I have chores to do, won't be back till Noon, maybe.

Deleted womic and the psuedo tunneling device. Cleared out all my usb device drivers and re plugged them all in including the xbox controller. I then wathced videos for a few hours (all smooth) then i played injustice for several hours without a crash to blue screen, played star citizen for a few hours no crash, then i played arkham city without any crashes, havent touched metroLL ill just stick to mouse and keyboard for that one anyways. Everything seems to be working so far. normally it would crash after 5-20 mins of playing and right now I seem to able to play until im done. ill mark this as solved in a day or two if it keeps going this way.

Okay,

Out of curiosity, when you "cleared out" your USB's. You uninstalled them? Then when you "replugged" them, you rebooted your machine didn't you or not?

I want to get a handle on if you saw any "Found new Devices" balloons.

I Uninstalled everything in my USB section of device manager. Rebooted, plugged them all in, it downloaded and installed the drivers. I Rebooted one more time. And that seemed to do the trick.
