Hi, I have had many BSOD's and lately they are daily when playing AC4. But before AC4 I was getting them weekly. I am not sure where to begin, but i downloaded the diag software and have the BSOD log. If anyone gets a moment to diagnose, could you please help me understand my problem?

I really appreciate any help,

Thank you

Hi Sfire2.

There is only one crash dump in the uploaded zip, and that is of 13/05. It might not display the present condition rightly, but you make it sure that your SSD is having the latest firmware.

Let us know the situation after applying the firmware.

Thank you! I will give that a try. That was the only file in the windows>minidump, any idea where others would be? Or why it would only save the one from way back in May?

okay, so far i have gone to the kingston link to update the SSD but it says it is unnecessary due to my version. and since it's my windows drive, i'm going to hold that option until later down the list as that sounds like a terrible process since the update formats the drive.

I did follow your suggestion Arc about the logs, but of course it was after the most recent BSOD, so "hopefully" I get another one that creates a file this time.

Thank you for all of your help so far, I really appreciate it.

A firmware update should not format the disc.

update:

The link for the SSD firmware update has this written in the description

"-------- WARNING - This firmware update will delete all data on your SSD -------
We recommend that you back up your data prior to applying the firmware revision."

also, I had another BSOD last night but it is still not recording the .dmp files. I even tried doing a search for .dmp in case they were being saved in another location.

Don't know if this is related, but i have also been getting an error message around the same time the BSOD's started happening more often.

Archie, you inadvertently gave the wrong link, I think.

Sfire2 I believe this is the right firmware for you. From your System Info file, I read that you have a Kingston SSD Now 300, SV300S37A240G, if this is correct, check here and confirm your model number at the top.
Download V300_525fw_Win, for SV300S3 | Kingston Technology

Here is a PDF with instructions, which should be in the firmware D/L too
http://media.kingston.com/support/downloads/SV300S3_525_FWUpdateProcedure_013014.pdf

Generally a SSD firmware update won't effect your data, but in case of an Oh Sh**! moment I'd recommend you do a backup.

Make a WinPE recovery disk as well in case you have to restore the image. It works just as an installed Macrium Reflect does and you'd need it in case of a no boot situation.

Sounds like a lot but go step-by-step and you'll do fine. Good luck. :)

Okay, I have since updated the SSD, thank you for that link Britton30! I have not received any more BSOD's, but I also have not been playing AC4 either. I will continue monitoring and keep this thread posted.

Thank you all for the help so far,
