BSOD playing League of Legends (nvidia or iastor.sys driver issue?)

Self built rig
*OS = Windows 7 home premium 64 bit full retail (installed about 1 year ago)
*Asus P8P67 deluxe mobo
*i5 2500k (no overclock)
*2 PNY nvidia gtx 570 graphics cards (also stock settings)
*8GB Memory (2x4gb) DDR3 1333
*120GB Kingston SSD

Hi,

Here is the issue I'm having and hoping someone can help me with. I use this computer for gaming and it has been suffering from fairly sporadic BSODs while playing League of Legends (LOL). I play other games without issues that are far more taxing on the computers resources such as Dead Space, Metro 2023, Crysis, Portal 2, etc. I only seem to get BSODs from LOL, occasionally only the game will crash and a message will pop up saying that my nvidia drivers have crashed, I can usually just restart the game and get back up and running as if nothing happened, but sometimes it will crash the entire OS. I've run the Mem dump files through the WinDbg (X64) diagnostic and it will tell me that the problem was "Probably caused by : iaStor.sys ( iaStor+28b43 )".

I've attached the mem dump files from a recent bsod and a system health report as per the BSOD posting instructions and am hoping that someone can get back to me and help me figure out what the problem I'm having is and how I can fix it.

You Intel Rapid Storage Technology controller drivers are corrupted. It is the controller for your hard disk through Windows. First, download the latest Intel(R) Rapid Storage Technology driver from ASUSTeK Computer Inc. -Support- Drivers and Download P8P67 DELUXE -> Download -> Windows 7 64bit -> SATA -> Intel(R) Rapid Storage Technology Driver Software V10.5.0.1026 for Windows Vista/7 32bit & 64bit.(WHQL) uninstall your Intel Controller through Device Manager.

1. Log in as an administrative user
2. Click Start Menu
3. Click Control Panel
4. Click Hardware and Sound
5. Click Device Manager
6. Expand IDE ATA/ATAPI Controllers
7. Right click the Intel Controller
8. Click Uninstall (do not hit OK yet)
9. Put a tick in the box to Delete driver software for this device
10. Click OK
11. Restart your computer if asked
12. Install the downloaded drivers.

Thanks for the quick response.

I've tried downloading the most recent driver from Asus, but it won't install I keep getting the error message:

"The setup program failed to install one or more device drivers.

Setup will exit"

Do I have to uninstall the corrupted driver first and if so how do I do that?

Yes, you need to remove the corrupted driver before installing the driver from your motherboard support site. The steps for uninstalling the corrupted driver are in my previous post.

Sorry, I wasn't being exactly clear. I did follow your instructions, but I still can't seem to get the intel driver to install and after I restarted my computer I noticed that in the device manager I have a, "Standard AHCI 1.0 Serial ATA controller" where the intel one used to be. Do I need the intel one or can I just make do with that?

How is the system responding? If it is stable, you may be able to make do without the Intel driver. Odd that it would not install, though.
