Hi Folks, first post, be gentle..!

New to me (and my son), reconditioned Fujitsu Esprimo P2560 computer, made around three years ago, very little loaded on system so far. Windows 7 still busy updating at turn on and off, seems about stable at service pack 1. In addition to two recent BSOD events, while son was playing LO Legends, I have seen that sometimes when loading a new page the screen blanks to black and an error notice saying the graphics driver has lost interest but recovered pops up, as the screen recovers. It doesn't hang around quite long enough for me to read it properly. Anyway I expect the BSODs are when the graphic driver doesn't recover from some similar drawing instruction... so I expect some sort of graphics driver or bios update might be in order.

I haven't take the machine apart yet to see if something has shaken loose in transit.
Malwarebytes says no infection. I wanted to check the RAM(2GB DDR3 fitted) but I can't see how to make the USB bootable in the BIOS. (Duh, plug the bootable USB in first!!)

The system has a built in Intel (R) G41 Express chipset for graphics. I know nothing about Windows 7, (yet :) apart from using it at work, but otherwise quite computer savvy, better with hardware than software...

I was wondering about upgrading the onboard graphics with a new graphics card too, if the current problem cannot be resolved, or adding more memory. Any suggestions gratefully received. Think I've covered the main points here.

regards

Hi Rissole, I'm a noob too. You should firstly visit the manufacturer's site and download an auto update program. Visit intel for the G41 drivers.

This morning the screen blanked to black for a moment and the message at the bottom of the screen said something like, the Intel graphics accelerator for Vista(R) has stopped and has restarted successfully.

Not sure why vista was mentioned, maybe the machine was originally supplied with that rather than windows 7. So another clue that it's all graphics related.

I ran memsys all last night, that seems fine, but I noticed it reported the FSB for the Intel G41 as 400MHz, or possibly even 200MHz, can't quite remember, but it seemed pretty slow to me. The screen blanked momentarily on pressing return in a URL entry box in the browser, so just on request of a new page or redraw.

I will look for later drivers when I get the opportunity this evening.

Cheers
