Good Day everyone! I hope you guys can help me with this problem. Just a few hours ago I began experiencing sudden appearances of artifacts while playing Mass Effect 3 on the PC. I immediately thought about my video card dying. It's a one year old GTX 460. I was hoping though that this problem is more of software than hardware because I really don't have the money to buy a new card. Right now the screen looks normal nothing shows. But when I open up Kombustor or play ME 3 after awhile my screen would freeze with white artifacts then turn black (background music of game still plays on the background though no response at all), sometimes BSOD with artifacts (also POST sometimes have artifacts too). On one occasion the game crashed to desktop then my wi-fi dongle cut off and a message indicates usb error. I unplugged then plugged it again then wi-fi is normal again. I guess that's all the info I can give. But any questions I can answer, just help me through it if it's technical. Thank You guys!

By the way the rig is dusty too so maybe that's one reason for the BSOD, I'll clean it up in the morning if I could.

The latest BSOD is caused by athurx.sys - Atheros AR9271 Wireless Network Adapter

Driver Reference Table - athurx.sys

I suggest having a look for an updated driver.

As for the artifacts that really does sound like your GFX card is on it's way out - I'd check the fans were clean and functioning properly at the very least.
