Hello,

Before I start I dont want you to think im insulting you by not reading around first! Im reading up on your 0x116 troubleshooting thread in the sub forum and im going to start working my way through it. I've just been having some odd problems that have started cropping up since these BSODs did.

These problems started occurring recently (within the last week) playing Star Wars: The Old Republic. I haven't changed any computer settings since I built the thing last October and it has been running a treat until now.

The crashes themselves are strange I do not get a blue screen the display simply fades to black while music continues to play in the background. It then either attempts to reboot or freezes (the music turns to bzzzzt).

At first I thought nothing of it but the frequency increased so I started looking around and saw there was a thread on the games forums about similar problems and talking about a directx corruption (I saw through WhoCrashed that one of my 0X116 was related to dx).

Another odd observation is that performing a repair through the games repair tool seems to solve the problem for a day or 2...

Anyway since then I stopped using the game for fear of damaging the card but I think the damage may already have been done. Sometimes on booting the system the VGA Warning LED (on the motherboard) comes on and I get a BIOS beep code which according to the manual means there is no VGA detected. If I turn the computer off from the mains and then reboot sometime later there is no such issue (though the card appears to be under high load when starting now). Currently idling and browsing like this I do not crash.

I know I should test with another game / benchtests but with the card appearing to become increasingly unstable and failing its POST (think its called that) sometimes, I'm a little worried to push it.

As for temps I play with a monitor open and in windowed mode so I can keep an eye on things and the crash has happened at near idle temps of 31 degrees and the max I can achieve with that game of 65 degrees.

Overclocking wise everything is as it arrived out the box. The 580 matrix is factory overclocked to some level I believe and I think theres some BIOS setting that auto overclocks the CPU based on demand but ill go make sure these are off.

Windows 7 Is . . .
- x64
- Reinstalled once since initial (after a secureerase)
- OEM
- Hardware is Less than 6 months
- Current OS installation is 3 months old

Thanks very much for your time!
G
