Solved BSOD possibly from videos/images

so this has been an issue for kind of a while, and well...admittedly, i've been a tad lazy. i did ask my mom a couple times to take it to her IT at work, and i believe they did some work...it's been a while so i'm not clear, but they may have replaced the RAM?

but it's been happening a little more frequently than i can deal with, so it's time to bite the bullet and try to fix this issue! it happens most frequently when i'm in the middle of watching a video, usually after watching a fair amount of them on youtube, or when i'm doing slightly heavy image search.

i would like to consider myself tech savvy, in that i can understand how to use command prompt and other things. did a check disc, went into the device manager and checked all my devices to make sure the drivers were up to date and only one required updating(Lenovo PM something), which i still need to restart my computer for. so i should be able to do any fixes myself, as long as it doesn't require physically changing hardware.

i'm hoping it's not that the RAM or memory that needs to be replaced. the BSOD error message i always get is is DRIVER_IRQL_NOT_LESS_OR_EQUAL with a 0xD1 stop message. i have the zip file attached.

thank you anyone who can help me figure out why this is happening! BSOD's are the worse.

i don't understand, i did follow the instructions. i downloaded and save the DM Log Collecter, ran it once and it seemed to stall on collecting msinfo report, so i stopped it and tried it again as administrator, and it finished. and i attached the zip file it created on my desktop.

and i typically use IE, but the BSOD did happen while i was watching a stream on Picarto last night on Chrome.

EDIT: well i double checked the zip file and it indeed had only the mini dump files...O.o...don't know why! ran the Collector again as admin, and it seems to have worked this time and now it has all the files in addition to the mini dump, and i've replaced the file in my first post with the correct one.

my apologies, though i did post a new reply after i made the edits asking if anyone had advice.

so would that possibly be the cause of my BSODs? because i haven't done Windows Update in a long time?

Having done a quick surf on the web, I've also ended up coming to a conclusion that it has to deal with Windows Updates you are yet to get.

If you are having doubts about your RAM, you can put it to a test the next time machine starts. (clear your doubt by probably carrying it out)
CPU can be put to a stress for the sake of its testing. (actually at first I thought that you had problems with temperature raising due to the load coming from youtube vids and searches - I'd assume that playing a game which would raise your CPU/GPU temperature - would cause a crash as well.)

Also, remember that PC/laptop - demand us to clean them from dust at some point, else it only contributes to the creation of more problems.

"0x000000D1 DRIVER_IRQL_NOT_LESS_OR_EQUAL" rather talks about Window's issue. Keep updating your Windows or perhaps you could try to investigate the issue further along with what Windows staff actually had to tell its customers back in past:

https://support.microsoft.com/en-us/help/2851149/-0x000000d1-driver-irql-not-less-or-equal-stop-error-on-a-windows-7-sp

See if something like this aids you in any way.

--

Extra: your reliability history should contain crash related info as well. It can be sent to Microsoft directly, and maybe after that, the windows updates will include a fix for your particular machine build at some point of time. It's just a guess, though I believe this problem had already been fixed before and the fix itself already available via Win Updates.. you are only yet to get it after you are done with other updates that is (unless you're already through with them).

Hope it helps.

thank you for your response Acova! i would definitely like to test my RAM, is there a particular feature Windows offers i can do this? i did have the diskchk run once, but it hasn't fixed the problem. is this something i would do through the command prompt?

i'm not sure about the temperature. it doesn't seem to get excessively hot, and the fan runs consistently without problems, but it may be a contributing factor. i probably should try giving it a spritz or two with compressed air to try and clear it out a bit of any dust

i have downloaded nearly all the available updates window found, except 2. one was a "security" update, but it added a very annoying search box to my IE and i removed it. the other was an update that wouldn't have done my system any good, it was for other Windows OS. i think two of the updates failed for some reason, but i didn't look into it. some kind of error.

i tried it before but it didn't work, so let me give it a try again. maybe it'll work now with me having the other updates?

nope, installed the zip, unzipped it, tried to run it, and it said the update is not applicable to your computer.

alright so i just did a check up on how to test my ram for issues, and it seems the Memory Diagnostics during boot can do the job. i did this two days ago, and no issues turned up, just double checked in the Events Viewer. so if there's something else..? otherwise i guess maybe it's not the ram.

however still getting BSOD with my youtube videos playing. seems somewhat random, like i may just start a video and boom, there it goes, or i may get through a few videos before it BSOD.

so been trying to find stuff to work on this since i'm not sure anyone's looking here. downloaded a debugging tool for windows, and it allowed me to access the minidump files.

it seems NETw5s64.sys is a probably cause for my BSOD, however every time i go to intel's driver and support assistance website to check my drivers, make sure they're all up to date, it always says my Intel Wifi Link 1000 BGN has an update available, but whenever i try to download the update, it just gives me the error message "This version cannot upgrade from the current older product. Please uninstall older product manually"

of course if i uninstall the driver for this, i lose my internet connection and can't download the new driver, and i haven't found anyway to save the new driver for a later install.

so any advice? cause i'm like 85% tempted to take this blasted computer to Best Buy and give it to their repair techs in the hope they can do something. maybe i need a new wireless card or something...?

Update or reinstall the drivers from Lenovo, they should have drivers that are better fit for your pc.

But it's an Intel driver, not Lenovo.

Why do you think Lenovo, Dell, ASUS, MSI, and all others offer drivers specific per model?

well that took a lot longer than i expected....alrighty then, i was able to find drivers for my particular Lenovo laptop, but i'm not at all sure which one i need.

i see Networking LAN(Ethernet) which i'm presuming is internet with a cable, and of course Networking Wireless LAN, which is...well wireless internet. i see 11 options, 8 of which are Intel related. i've included an attachment text file with all the names of the available drivers i can download.

so i would appreciate some further advice on what to do from this point.

Removing non-Windows 7 drivers keeps only 4 options, however, with the info I have of your system I can't help you.

Please provide the URL of the support page, I can't find it.
