Solved BSOD - random but getting more frequent - 0x0000004e (099)

Random BSOD’s, seems to occur when watching live video streams online. I ran memtest for 8 hrs. with no errors. Ran Furmark Stress Test on my Radeon HD 4650 and no problems. I’ve removed, cleaned and reseated all memory sticks, sata cables, video card and fan & cable connections. I’ve reinstalled some drivers. I ran sfc scannow. I ran Driver Verifier but haven’t been able to induce a BSOD so I disabled it.


I have a dual boot with Win 10 – Win 10 does not BSOD (at least not yet) but my main system is Win 7 x64 so I’m really struggling with this issue. Can someone analyze the minidump and point me in the right direction. Thanks in advance

Please uninstall everything of AMD using Display Driver Uninstaller and install new drivers from AMD. Ok - followed your suggestion and removed the AMD with DDU. I also deleted an AMD folder from the root of "C" drive and one from the program files folder first.

Rebooted and let Win7 install drivers. Now the drivers are from 2009 - ATI Radeon HD 4650 (Microsoft Corp WDDM 1.1).

AMD does have some legacy drivers from 2013 - but I'm going to wait and see what happens with the current drivers. I'll let you know.

Had another crash - there was some new (to me) files highlighted in BlueScreenViewer. I ran scannow /sfc and ran a disk check. Here are the last 3 mini dumps (one I think was with Driver Verifier running).

Had a couple more BSOD's yesterday with the old (2009) display drivers which Windows installed. To isolate/simplify things, I disconnected the Brother printer, a wireless usb adapter dongle and removed a usb 3.0 pcie card.

The I ran DDU again in Safe mode. Updated display driver by browsing & pointing to packages/drivers of the Legacy Driver from AMD. These are dated 2013 and are the last drivers issued for my video card. All was fine for 5 hours last night - watched video stream on one monitor and worked on second monitor.

This morning all seemed fine for about an hour. Then i clicked a weblink and BSOD - I still get Videoprt.sys as the culprit but Bug Check String is "IRQL not less or equal" instead of "PFN list corrupt".

Latest dmp's attached.

I'm not sure where to go from here if it's not the display drivers - the video card is a Radeon HD 4650 put out by HIS - I have drivers from their site & wonder if I should give them a try?

Please fill in your system specs

Please follow this tutorial and download the tool. The tool will give you detailed information about your system specs, please fill in your system specs more completely including PSU, cooling and other used stuff like mouse, keyboard, monitor, case, etc.

Could you try the GPU into a different system?

How old is the hardware?

I had the GPU in another system when I ran the Furmark stress test - it didn't blue screen. The hardware is from 2009 - so it could be the card is dying.

However, I have not had a BSOD for two days. After the last driver update, the BSOD was not the same as previous ones. I'm wondering if subsequent rebooting may have solved the problem. I'm going to wait and see for now. If no more similar BSOD's I'll come back and marked solved. Thanks for the help. In the meantime I'm studying components; I may get the urge to put together a new system that Win 10 drivers available.

I'm marking this as solved - I haven't had a BSOD since the last GPU driver update. For anyone reading this in the future - what seems to have solved this was this procedure (see Post #3). I also ran Display Driver Uninstaller and installed the new drivers in safe mode. Although I did have one more BSOD after this procedure, I think it was unrelated or happened before I had rebooted a couple times.
